I had the original of this phone with the silver finish, the phone scratched and chipped within weeks. Phone has a habit of crashing too. Speaker is not as good as original V3 phone.

i guess why some find v3x difficult to ouse is because they were used to have a nokia or ericsson phone before,,, for me this phone is really great,,,

it's nt a user friendly phone, so hard to send txt mssgs. and the sound is worst very low. very complicated phone. the battery is so bad specially when you use the multimedia functions. you have to bring your charger along.

            this is a good phone , i read through a couple of comments and i dont know if you have a prototype or something ;
1-someone claimed you cannot record sound with the V3X , you absoultly can , sound and video at the same time even.
2- limited bluetooth functionality, cannot tranfer pictures with the blue tooth , while reading this i was transfering pics from and to my old V3,
3- difficult menu to access missed calls; press up at the main screen and press the enter button on recieved calls icon .. does not sound to hard to me.
4-picture which you manualy have to focus; more than a problem the macro setting is a feature , you would not even have an option to focus a close up pic on other mobile phones..
my only true disapointment with this phone is that the flash light for the camara is more a light than a flash light.
other than that this phone boast excellent features ... all the features the V6 Maxx has except for the external touch buttons on the MAXX

After one month I have sent the V3X to Motorola Technical service.

Wake up alarm fails sometimes and it's not "trustable" at all.

I've first synchronized with Outlook to get phonebook and dates, and then after editing some friend's data, I could not edit it again or call him from the database. So I had to erase my friend completely and start inserting his data manually.

After some similar failures Motorola Service recommended me by email to RESET the phone, but the problem came back again when editing any contact.

Sometimes the list of incoming, missing or outgoing calls dissapears as I've never made a call and, 3 o 4 days after it shows again.

I even renew the SIM card just in case it was damaged. But the same problem came back with the new SIM card.

The synchronizing with Outlook takes 4 or more hours to finish, only for 300 contacts!!!

I went to Motorola Official Technical Service in my city. The "expert" told me: "Come back in about 15 minutes and I will update the firmware". And 15 minutes later he told me: "The update failed, I cannot connect with USB cable. I have to send it to Motorola Central."

Three weeks later I'm still waiting for my phone V3X back.

The phone is only 2 months old, so is still in warranty period. God almighty

Motorola People, if you read these lines, please make a good update of the firmare because so far I don't recommend this V3X to anybody. (Even my enemies).

Thanks, and sorry for my English!

                    Phewww... here we go again.

For you to get into your received (answered and missed) calls list... you can do it two ways.

                    1) Go into your Menu i.e by clicking the center of your 4 way nav keys... you'll see an icon that looks like a diary with a phone and clock symbol on it... click that.

                    2) To set up the shortcut... go into Settings - Personalize - Homescreen - Home Keys... you can then select which one of your keys you want as the shortcut.. i.e the up key, down key, right key or left key of the 4 - way nav key... or you can assign it either of your two softkeys... i.e the keys above your call and end buttons(red and green).

Note that you can set all your shortcuts using the same process in (2).

                    Cheers...

I will not recommend this phone to anyone who has not used Motorola phones before, and are used to the features of Nokia and Sony Ericsson. It's difficult to manage and the features aren't that fantastic.
The camera, although is a 2MP, is not sharp and difficult to focus, incomparable to Sony Ericsson walkman phones which is also 2MP. The alarm is very intermittent, sometimes it does not ring when you expect it to.

The Motorola V3x is such an abysmal example of a mobile phone that it very nearly destroyed my interest in the mobile phones. Over the past 10 years I have been through quite a few phones and this is by far the worst. Its sole redeeming feature is its aesthetic appeal which is undeniable. In this Motorola has been true to the whole ethos of the V series and even going back to the StarTac line (another abysmal phone) in that it’s a well marketed aesthetic handset that is about as useful as a telecommunications device as an ashtray on a motorcycle. Motorola user interfaces have always been about as awkward as Italian bureaucracy and in this the V3x is no different. I had expected this and was prepared to overlook it. What I am not prepared to do is overlook its total lack of features and persistent unreliability. The first handsets camera didn’t work and had to be swapped even before I managed to leave the shop.

The camera is not entirely auto focusing and requires you to adjust it manually by the way of a physical switch depending on how far the object you are photographing is and failure to do this results in totally out of focus shots. Not to be used to photograph the loch ness monster or anything else requiring an in focus shot. Sometimes they just vanish of the phone. (Happened to a shot I really wanted to keep)
The Bluetooth is not very functional as you can’t send photos using it and does not offer the full range to Bluetooth services.
The alarm clock works sometimes, the phone also has a tendency to drop calls when you open to answer. Every now and then opening the phone will result in the phone software hanging with a blank screen. The caller id function takes a vacation when logging missed calls etc showing them as unknown. The off button repeatedly shows up the number 3 on the screen unless you are willing to target it will determined precision in which case the phone is prepared to shut down. I knew I had to bin the phone when I began to feel relief every time I was able to successfully answer a call. Sound quality is also crap.
I suppose this could be a freak experience that I only have qualified for but a friend decided to purchase this phone despite my warnings and he now curses it to high heaven. He has switched back to his Sony Erickson and me to a Nokia 6280 which despite is bland design is an excellent phone. I recommend this phone will all thumbs up to people who don’t need to use it for anything else other than a fashion accessory. It does have one excellent feature. Its software allows the phone to act as a modem and allow surfing the web with only a mouse click when connected to a laptop and the Motorola software installed. This is quite a feat because with my previous 3g handset I had to manually enter the settings and it took determined effort to get it working. With a V3x an idiot could do it, which is perhaps what they call ‘elegant design’ because anyone that holds onto this phone longer than they have to is indeed and idiot.

There is a missed calls list... in your received calls list the ticked calls are those answered while the unticked calls are those you missed...easy.

One thing that is missing is there's no missed call list. If anyone knows how to display the missed call list do reply me..

For shortcut to received calls: Go into Settings - Personalize - Home Screen - Home Keys... you can then select assign whatever function you want the 4 shortcut Navi keys on your homescreen to be..and also the 2 soft keys above the green and red (call and end)buttons.

For battery improvement: Go into Settings - Network - Network Setup and change your band to 900/1800 (2.5G)..saves battery loads... 3g or automatic always drain your battery cos you dont get 3G everywhre so when the phone has to search that drains the battery.

For the volume: you may have to mod your phone... i did it and what previously used to be level 7...is now level 5... so now my level 6 and 7 are much louder...too loud to tell the truth.

For Keypad lock... you gonna need to mod your phne again... check www.motox.us or www.motomodders.net for instructions... once done all u need to do is press the # key for a sec or two and that locks your keypad... i got that too so my ring styles dont change when in my pocket.

You can also improve the quality of your video and camera... did mine and now my video is as smooth as a TV...no lag at all... fps greatly improved...camera also greatly improved too. transfered videos and pics to my PC and believe me they are really good...no joke.

Anyhow... go on to those site's guys... loads of info there.. once done u'd never wanna part with this phone trust me... will feel like you built it with your personal touch... lovely.
