There are something you migth need to know like:
- the phone only supports up to 2gb, beyond that would be impossible for the phone to read on.
- any micro-SD is fine. You can also buy from established brands like Kinston, PQI, Transcend to be safe. Personally, I have a 2gb Kingston.

Well guys, i had this phone after my cdma nokia got stolen. In a rush to have a mobile phone so i bought w231 as the price is affordable that day. I bought this phone 5 months ago and i can tell u a lot of things about w231.
1st of all the keypad is totally awful, it's almost impossible to get the right text without looking at the screen (after 5 months i couldn't get used to it)
2nd the sound clarity is very good, the pure sound beat the mighty N73, i could say that after my friend and I played the same song at the same time. N73 got blur at the max volume, when is mine still very good.
3rd web browsing not very functionally, it's affected with the limited screen size and resolution.
4th jack audio 3.5 mm and microUSB port very useful, and that's one of the reason i choose this handset.
5th the price is very cheap according to it's performance, quick reading memory card even at the max limit, battery life quiet longer then i thought so, the endurance of this handset is unquestionable ( i dropped it three times and my nephew dropped it about 5-6 times and still works perfectly)
So guys, if u have very limited budget i suggest u buy this phone. No regret that's what i feel.
And now on i'm going to switch to LG KF510 coz' this phone couldn't satisfied me more than i wanted to ^^.

I just bought one for my sister as a gift for her graduation and I am really surprise how good that phone is a music player and a standard phone.
This is coming from someone who owns a fully modded ROKR Z6 and ROKR E8, and these phones have haptic sensor for the e8 and soft touch for the Z6. I gues that you are just not used with the keys yey.

This is what I wrote to Motorolla, Phils customer service...
Try inputting a a a... what happens is: "abc". There are also times when the keypad seems unresponsive, maybe has something to do with its rubber keys but I've seen phones with rubber keys but they're not like W231. Really slow performance. The menus don't seem to be well thought of. There are also some other things I do not like about this phone I just can't enumerate all of them right now.
All I wanted was a phone with no camera (coz of some restrictions on my line of work). I know I did not pay much to acquire this phone and all I was expecting was a decent phone with minimal features - call and SMS. SMS is a really basic feature yet this phone fails to perform in that very basic aspect. Even without the Radio or MP3, I would have no complaints about this phone but the Text Input... it's simply the worst I've ever seen.
Is there a FW update to at least fix my problem with the text input?
Also, I talked to some who own this same model or those that are about the same line and they also have the same complaints.
I have owned and used Nokia and S Ericson phones and I also had minor problems, but not as worse as this phone. At least not enough to get me to write something like this.

I used a cd-r king micro sd 4gb, i tried formatting it on the phone w/c says "format failed", so i find alternative and reduced it into a 2gb by lo-formatting it on my desktop.. and tried to format in on the phone, hopefully, but it ended up w/ the same message.. really hopeless it is with my 4gb mem card?

ur battery can do m,uch better if u have a chance to change it to a way more better battery.
by the way,almost evrytime when im using mp3,the battery just got dropped to 4 bars? it bothers me because i bought this unit 3 friggin days ago, can u post some help issues because its fraining my patoence?????@@@@@!!!!‡

you can only search for the music files on your phone in the memory card by placing your Music files in the Music folder and Picture Files on a Picture Folder. You have to create this folders first in the root directory of the MicroSD card. The Phone only supports mp3,midi,amr for music files and GIF and JPEG of small sizes. I am also having some hard time on how to install some games.

it just can't play music from other memory card and more so the data was erased.I programmed new songs to my memory but still the files can not be accessed. I am really diasapointed. pls help.
