As I posted earlier, you can use MP3 files as ringtone! No need to convert to anything else.

I have just managed to transfer MP3 to the 411i using funnily enough the Nokia MultiMedia player. Once you convert the MP3 to amr files below 100k you can then set as ringtones. Grrr! :o) Nice phone apart from that. Don't like the way you can't disconnect the IMode, which is OK while service is free, but I keep pressing Imode button instead of phonebook..!

I will never buy anything but Nokia again! Its a nightmare for MP3s as ringtones, no space to save anything and whats with this "Flat View" thing, why not just show us everything thats on the thing all the time?! Doh 18 month contract :(

In order to use mp3 as ringtone: Go 'My data', select MP3, select MP3 file you have saved, press MENU, then select 'Use item', select 'Set as ring tone'.
Then Change your setting in Phone modes>Normal/Meeting/etc> press edit, select Ringer>select MP3.

Just bought this phone. It's excellent. I've never had a mobile before but in a couple of hours I'd worked out all the basic's, like changing wallpaper, sounds, ringtones etc. Using the address book and filling it in easy. Sending my first texts and getting replys easy too. This phone is good value for the price.Looks good. Nice screen too and plenty of icons to make it seem busy not confusing. Would have liked the usb cable supplied but small gripe. After one day I feel I should have had this a long long time ago. But since it's new, I'm glad I bought this phone.
In case Info is needed there is only 28MB of onboard memory and as an MP3 player this is not even enough for a full album. It can't be upgraded to a larger amount and it's a pity a flash or memory stick upgade feature wasn't included. As I'm not interested in it for mp3 music, I don't really mind.

Thanks, Russ, I ordered USB cable from the Link, downloaded software from NEC Europe
                                http://www.neceurope.com/mobiles/software.asp?phone=75&category=4&language=ENG&cp=5
Then no problem sending mp3, picture, contacts to and from my computer!

You can change your ringtone very easily, from Setting>Phone modes>Normal mode>edit>Ringer, then you can change in other modes (Meeting mode etc).

Anyway, I'm super-happy with this phone!
                                Well done NEC!

Only one thing: Carphone warehouse did not send me the 'special envelope' for trade-in my old handset...the envelopes are run out apparently! They advised me to go to one of their shops, but it would cost me! I emailed them to send it, but they replied that it would take 7 days to reply me!

Hi again, i have got the phone, £59.99 form carphone warehouse on orange with £10 credit! Its a wicked phone looks really good, works well so far! Easy to use menu and handy "desktop" icon links to quickly flick to regual destinations like camera. Only worry is it its hardish to text on, supose my fingers will get used to it! OVerall very good phone tho gona get a data cable for it now using one of the links earlier posted. Hope this has helped! Dan

The Nec N411i is a terrible phone, no point having bluetooth on it at all as you cant do anything with it, its horrible to use and i really have not got on with it at all. not a user friendly phone !
