I cannot use Bluetooth on my phone, it says hook up to a PC first or sumthing like that, where can you get software upgrades from?

Good camera, nice video, good features - not very good if you actually want to speak to people - calls dropout despite standing still with a full signal, often cannot make calls out (full signal again!) ghost sms messages (this seems to happen if you have a profile set for a contact). The ridiculous battery life, the wap browser seems to be limited to about 2 sites (none of which I use) and the best trick it has started doing is just switching off (full charge) while in pocket or just left on a desk etc - when you open it up - black screen - hit a few buttons and you get 'please wait -initialising' - how long it has been off you dont know until all the angry texts start arriving that you never answer your phone!

Well Three has just termniated my contract as they could not resolve the fact that I needed a Bluetooth compatible phone other than the e616. Also they tell me that the LG is no longer offered as a replacement.
Anyway need to go shopping.

Thanks very much for everyones opinions about the e616. Just purchased the Sony-Ericsson Z1010 to use on the Three network in Melbourne Australia. Very happy with it, even if it is a bit big.

I've gotta say no phone has upset me like this one...its so close to being a damn good phone but the software glitches are incredible...my first problems with the phone initially were the poor battery life and call dropouts...then the phone started getting ghost sms messages...i.e. message has arrived with no message content or who sent it...ok i thought..there's an upgrade...took it to carphone warehouse where i upgraded the firmware to ACPU:A125.56.07 CCPU:C623.ROV...battery life is much improved...ghost sms messages turned up into the sent folder...but now the phone doesn't even register the fact an sms has been sent by someone else...no doubt this will mean sending the phone back to 3 for another 3 days (again being phoneless which sux)...with probly no solution!!...aaaahhh!!!

Thinking about buying the e616 for use in Melbourne Australia. The massive number of negative comments from I think the UK have put me off. Any local comments?

Well, the NEC e616 looks good and has some great features but that is where it ends! It drops out, drops out on answering!
Complained to Three and they sent a new version of phone , NEC e616v. a
A Month on and it still has these problems and another one in that it echo's badly.
Rang Three and they acknoledged the problems and now want to replace it with an LG.
Problem now is that after a lot of conversation with Three I find the LG does not support BlueTooth! I do use Bluetooth all the time and this is one thing that did work for me on the e616.
Three's answer to this problem was to offer a Motorola A835...AHH the size of this thing!!
Last conversation is that Three are saying that they have another software upgrade, the second in a Month!
Very annoyed . Three won't have me after the contract expires! Crap phone ! Crap support / Customer care.

Using this phone as a service phone.
using firmware:
ACPU:A125.56.07
CCPU:C623.ROV
I must say the phone do work fine switches between 3G and 2G like a charm.
The only negative thing about it is that i feel the menu navigation is too unintuiative, and illogical, on a upside you can make your own shortcuts to just about any function.
Reception better then my old trustworthy Nokia 5110 on 2G, microphone sensitivity very good, speaker powerfull.
The most negative aspects i can find at the moment is that the original AC charger cable is angled making the connector insecure in its socket.
No good carkits aviable, i really would like a active carkit pref with the possibility of a external antenna to make incar reception better.
I would also have liked it if the service software covered the whole screen when activated, instead of 1/3 of it.
Overall i would say i give the phone a 8/10 with a + for versatility.

Whatever you do - don't use these phones. They look great, but are utterly hopeless at making or receiving calls. We had 5 for our business and they are all going back to 3 in exchange for LG phones that will hopefully work. Worst phone I've ever had to use.

Having attempted to use this phone for the last three months...my main problems living just north of london is the poor reception compared to other phones, the drop outs, extremely poor battery life (does not last more than a couple of conversations on the phone), the lockups. The phone camera, video, 3g features are ok

Dire phone. Avoid like the plague. Battery life on mine is only about 6 hours and thats with the extended battery! plus it crashes, wont hold networks, bluetooth is useless, and this is my third phone!
