      http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/10/27/apple-pay-currentc/18010871/

customers are threatening not to go to those stores if they don't support apple pay.

Lets put it this way.... people want to use apple pay because it's secure, and fast to use.

anyways as some user said... Cash is the safest method of payment.

"lets see how far apple can go, once they get in, we jump in and say we want in also. Let apple do the dirty work, we just piggy back our way in. even though no one uses our google wallet service because its not available on all android devices."

Obviously I prefer just plain-old debit, that way I only spend what I have. But the banks know how to shove me a credit card down my throat...

While they have a good point in preferring choice, as a European i can confirm it's very convenient to have purchases withdrawn directly from your debit account. Who needs credit card companies? It gives better insight in your financial state and stimulates you not to spend money you don't have. Plus it's cheaper.

I'll just stick to my American Express Platinum Card. That is probably why my chase cards don't work on some NFC machines.

Exactly this is what NFC payment means. With the same terminal you can use ApplePay or Google Wallet, without any changes. Both ApplePay and Google Wallet use exactly the same protocol, it's like being two different payment cards from two different banks. What's different is what it's on top of that protocol, and everyone(not only Apple and Google) is free to use it as it fits.

Then you gotta deal with change and crap. So much easier to consolidate it to an iPhone that is secure by its very nature of data protection and privacy and encryption.

CurrentC doesn't attach to your debit card, they want to tie it directly to your checking account (cut out the middle man to save on CC processing fees), the app also requires the ability to access your health data on your device (Apple's Health and Google Fit) which seems completely ludicrous for a payment system to need that.

The process was detailed on TechCrunch and it goes in this order, 1. Ring out your items. 2. Open the app scan the QR code on the payment terminal. 3. Your phone generates a QR code. 4. The cashier scans that QR code with a second scanner. You have now paid for your items and the retailer has all kinds of purchase history information to track you and market to you with.

Hands down the most insecure way to handle paying for anything as QR codes can easily be falsified and wreak havoc on the payment systems compromising the entire system.

It's amusing to read how many are oblivious of the fact this is nothing more than just a feud between large companies to take charge (and control) over how and where you use your money.

The major retailers recently acquired an interest of their own in the Mobile Payments arena (which btw isn't necessarily in your "best interest") so now, all of a sudden, they block Apple, Google and maybe even the NFC in cards such as Visa or Mastercard.

I see no way anyone benefiting from MCX banning the two NFC payments. Google and Apple could easily reject CurrentC from their devices. No one will be using any NFC payments at all.

I guess it just magically appeared at their door one day. The stores agreed to the CC transaction fees. They can charge more or stop allowing customers to use CC altogether. Not going to happen in the real world, though. Customers want convenience and easy transactions. With the coming Christmas season, where do you think customers are going to go? To the store that you have to bring a pile of cash to buy your new TV with or the store that allows you to buy with a credit card, get 1,2,3% or more back and gives you an extended warranty from your CC company. Not to mention allows you to build your credit profile and gives you an interest free loan if you pay it off by the end of the cycle. Not to mention the added security of not having to carry around a pile of cash wherever you go and the insurance of having unauthorized purchases being eliminated if someone steals your card. Today's and yesterday's comments have made it even more painfully obvious that the users on this site have no real world exposure or knowledge.
