Look.. Guys and gals the mud slinging can stop nw..
1stly im frm south africa, in economic terms a 3rd world country.
If here's some statistics that'l make you think a lil b4 making badmouthing brands or services.
In RSA there is les then 4 million landlines compared to more than 30million cellphne users.
Its quite simple y we dont use fxd line broadband, ova mobile internet even 4 email.

        Its because its CHEAPER .

Fixed line data charges is over U$30 for 1Gb data cap wit a 384k line.

Gmail also dnt charge 4 their service. Your service provider in my case vodacom charges only 4 the internet connection.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2009i didn't see a pop up either from my N97 superphone, maybe ... moreI suppose you never got the start up wizard either, you know the one that installs operator settings, email information and asks if you want to use switch?

It's straight after you set the timezone, time and date.

Then there's the license agreement that pops up the first time you use maps, after that you get the 'Go online on start up' Yes, No, Always Ask dialogue.

Maybe you got a fake Chinese one that doesn't have the real Nokia software.

I hope OVI doesn't start charging or speading user info for their own $ gain. Ovi can try to combine facebook+gmail in order to gain footing.

I sold an N97 this morning the first thing that came up was all this stuff about accepting the Nokia services agreement, if you accept it an SMS comes from Nokia.

You get the same thing on the E71 and E75.

I use the Nokia messaging sevice or Nokia push email. It is very good and I only pay the gprs that is less then using BIS of BB since I only need to receive and answer some emails. I don't want to make OVI mail since I already use Yahoo and Gmail.

I think it will take Ovi a while to come anywhere near Gmail as Ovi service is still raw and requires a lot of improvement.

                                Only a million?

Seeing as the first thing that pops up when you turn on a new Nokia is do you want to join "Yes", "No", that's a lot of people clicking no, it comes up even before the settings wizard.

                                A "free" service?

Free apart from network data charges that is.

[deleted post]Ok that's a good point. But why a million people use Ovi if they have their computers. Must be something else....hmmm.

                                    How about ... teenagers !
Or ... people who can't hang around all day at home and like to keep in touch and don't get access to computers.
Or... during work or class chat and mail.
Come on. You can think of more. Just try :)
