You don't need a 200$ phone, you can use cheapest S40 device for 50$ and access the inbox.

For example, doing the math, as you say, a 100 euro phone in Mexico would still cost around $1500 mexican pesos... In this case, at this price range, a 100 euro phone would be accessible to middle class citizens, who would then be able to afford a computer and thus, no ovi would be really that necessary... see what I mean?

Wow, one million. I've never even been on that site. lol
Nokia had a smarphone from 2002 or 2001. It has never caused a rush on apps like apple did in just two years. That's cause of the boring symbian UI. Nokia do something. Your UI is outdated for at least 5 years.

Hi everyone, I currently use Ovi form personal reasons besides my corportate email. I have to let you know that its is a very simple web mail service, but it works awesome on my phone. I don't think Apple o Gmail should be worried for they have differente types of business models, the ones who should be worried is Blackberry RIM... OVI is a direct competitor, because when you complete OVI with Nokia Messaging, you can have all your email accounts pushed directly to your phone... Its Free!!!! (for now). I do not work at Nokia, but use their services a lot....

They should be careful with this number: it doesn't necessarily mean that from this 1 million many actually used it if not day by day, at least once a week. Nevertheless, it is still an important achievement and a good opportunity to put in place the retention...very important for the in danger top spot phone manufacturer leader.
