Anonymous, 14 Aug 2009iPhone, Palm Pre, S60 phone's even the Android phones and g... moreyeah, and that's good.

Oh there supposed to be jealous of this? That'd be hypocritical of them considering the fact that the new Office suite they'll be using is from Microsoft. Development from one company for the benefit of others doesn't make me jealous so, good for Apple, and good for Microsoft.

Speaking of which, I hope the MSOffice for Symbian will also apply for S60 based Samsung devices, and maybe for the Pre. But I guess Palm is keen on their own Office Suite. Oh well, if not now, then later on.

Win7RTM, 14 Aug 2009I don't have a problem with iPhone either (I own one, lol).... morei agree with you. There is no best phone. Each phone is unique. It is a matter of a preference (base on your needs) which i have stated in the apple forum many times towards the iphone fanatics.

i like solid smartphones that have great cameras with a xenon or a bright powerful led flash for quick snapshots at parties or any gatherings, and also to have a camera with me all the time. i dont like having a separate camera when out in public or gatherings or parties.

thats why i dont own an iphone anymore mainly because of the camera

I have a problem with people who think that the iPhone > everything. No phone deserves that title and ever will. Not Nokia, Palm, Apple, Samsung, none of them. fans who go to great lengths to make a dbag out of themselves embarrass the company, and the sane owners of their products -.-

[deleted post]and I was telling you that the Palm Pre can also do that. I shouldn't have been harsh, so that's my fault. Still, I think you should research the Palm Pre because the iPhone isn't the only one that can tab browse.

Rip, 14 Aug 2009Yeah... but wouldn't it be possible in the future that part... moreIt would seem like a possibility, but definitely not a strong one, seeing as Symbian Foundation will refine it's OS and make it more user-freindly. Regardless if Windows Mobile 7 knocks 'em dead in 2010, I would sincerely frown on Nokia if they opted for a device using that platform. I believe that Nokia will be firm on just agreeing to Office Mobile.

As for free texting, its not that Microsoft or Nokia doesn't want to come up with a free solution, but Service Providers don't want it in their phones. Text messaging is big business. 5 cents a text message, 100 million sent a year translates into 5 million dollars in revenue. Multiply that by 12 months, at 100 million texts a month that's 60 million in annual revenue. Now suppose a carrier has 5 million subscribers. Each sends an average 20 messages a day. That's 100 million a day and 3 billion a month. At 5 cents a message that's 150 million dollars in revenue a month. RIM on the other hand doesn't run into the carrier problems Microsoft and Nokia does.

Just read the book "Burning the Ships" if anyone wants to know why Microsoft is putting Office in a competitor platform. Also what better way to defend against Quick Office and Google Docs then putting Office in corporate mobile devices. IPhone and Android are not yet the top tier corporate devices but they are getting there. So it makes sense for 2 top players in the corporate segment to work together and hold off Apple and Google. After all Nokia and Microsoft are the 'seniors' of the industry while Apple and Google are the 'juniors'. I think this collabaration was just waiting to happen. But just pick up the book 'Burning the Ships'. Forget about the first half of the book. Its the 2nd half which puts into context their new strategy.

At present I have the N958G and love it. But if the texting thing or messenger service can be provided by Nokia....... I will buy a N97 yesterday. I am a Nokia guy all the way, but do admire some of the new features other brands have. C'mon Microsoft/Nokia let's blow RIM out the ballpark.

It sure would be nice if the Nokia/Microsoft partnership could bring out software that will enable free texting (like RIM), between Nokia handsets. RIM only has market share due to this factor.
