yeah right, the iphone 3gs is one of the "most expensive" smartphone of 2009 T_T
The Iphone is worth like 45k+ in our country while HTC Magic is 30k, damn what features can htc put up to htc magic with that extra 15k...
i think EISA is disregarding the price in choosing phones

boomshine, 18 Aug 2009i think you read its reviews right? you could see there the... moreSame camera resolution as the Blackberry Bold and storm, the Nokia E71 and E75, the Palm Pre, the HTC Magic...
...so I guess it isn't the camera part.
Video camera, same resolution as the N95, N96 and N97 so I guess it isn't the video camera.
Lack of video calls? Like the Palm Pre, Blackberry Bold, Storm and Curve, the HTC Magic, mustn't be that either.
Bluetooth file transfer... well kids use that to transfer things because they can't afford email or MMS mustn't be that either.
Multitasking the iPhone does multitask in a controlled way so I guess it's not that.
Ability to install native applications well the App store and developer SDK is arguably the most successful endeavor in this area EVER, so it's not that.
So what's left?
Flash in the web browser, Adobe's proprietary software will be dead in a few years anyway, check the video demonstration when you download the latest version of Firefox to your PC, "HTML5 look ma, no plugins", the sooner we're rid of Adobe's plot to be installed on every Internet accessing device on earth the better as far as I'm concerned, Apple should be lauded for drawing a line in the sand.

i think you read its reviews right? you could see there the incapabilities of Iphone 3GS.
also for the price of the phone, they should have upgraded the harware, and especially the camera.
and EISA should have conducted this awarding by year-end so that all the phones that came in 2009 will be included... its only about mid year and more phones are coming before 2009 ends T_T

[deleted post]Well now I guess you are right about that. A smartphone is a phone with advanced capabilities. And yes, the iPhone has them. Still you're missing the point. Which can be obvious if you're implying I'm a Nokia fan and the only evidence I've been using was from Nokia. Well, no I wasn't. If you read my post a while back I also mentioned the Palm Pre, and HTC Touch Pro. Another from David that could be mentioned is HTC Touch HD (funny how that makes him a Nokia fan). So If I can update my own comment, I will tell you my definition of a smartphone, only this time I will add capabilities and features from all of the current smartphones out there, including the iPhone:
Nice UI, easy to boot, great media player, good web browsing capabilities, multitasking features, Good Office client, very fun games.
There you go, no bias or anything. So that leaves the alleged "bitterness" about the iPhone winning the award. lol? I was never mad or bitter towards the iPhone winning. I was disappointed. The reason was because I do not believe the phone has reached it's true potential yet, and in due time, it will become even more excellent of a phone. It's just still a small bit off from the other smartphones out there. This can also be said about the E75 and W995. According to you however, that makes me both bitter, and a Nokia fan. Well if that's the case then I guess my implications about your 1 dimensional behavior is true. Simply because you can't possibly acknowledge that there are phones that are a bit better than the iPhone, you automatically deem whoever uses a Nokia phone in reference to a comparison, either a Nokia fan, or an iPhone hater. You are like the countless others that think the iPhone is the best around, and I just can't stand that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when it is fueled by ignorance and lack of respect, I have no choice but to stand against people like you. I go and look up the stats of other phones, doing comparisons, and providing evidence. However, you guys are uncaring, so of course my attempts are in vain.
Btw I am also well aware of 1-dimensional people who think Samsung, SE and Nokia are the best around as well, and also use sheer ignorance to fuel their stupid comments. I am not keen on that either.
In short, I just wish you guys didn't idolize your phones like you do. The barbaric comments that I see (and contribute to, so I am also at fault) are just uncalled for. Seriously people. The iPhone is a great phone, and so is the N97, and so is the Palm Pre, and so is the Omnia HD. Whether you want to accept that, I'll leave that up to you.

boomshine, 18 Aug 2009i think Iphone 3GS lacks those so-called "advanced capabili... moreWhich "advanced capabilities" do you think the iPhone lacks and how does their absence affect the iPhone's capabilities as a smartphone?
There is very little the iPhone 3GS can't do and most of those things are superfluous to the functionality of a smartphone.

this kind of awards won't boost the sales of any mobile phone that been awarded
look at iphone 3gs and 5800XM,
without any awards it also can sales more than omnia hd and w995

In the meantime you can use the full desktop version of office (among other things) running on a PC using this:-

[deleted post]QuickOffice is neither free nor Open Source, it's what Nokia currently use on their phones and is part of the package which won the E75 the best business phone award.
Docs2Go is also not free or open source and iis what Blackberry and Palm (apart from the treo WinMo phones) use for editing Microsoft files.
They are both available for iPhone and Android.
Your comments are so far off the mark it's not funny.
