27 August, 2009
Well, it seem Nokia have something even more exciting to announce at the upcoming Nokia World, so they’ve decided to fire early with the N900 tablet/smartphone announcement. N900 is a continuation of Nokia...

Nokia has been making a lot of phones that are just great, but they're always admittedly lacking something. To me, I believe the N900 lacks only minor things, almost nit-picky things. And the Omnia HD is a great phone. That phone lacks only minor nit-picky things as well.

As hilarious as this seems Nokia and Samsung work together, especially on terms as OS. Sam and Nokia should hardly be enemies IMO, if they do nearly the same things, just different styles. Picture Nokia is Toyota and Samsung is Lexus. That should clear things up.

Also, why capacitive screens? I really need an answer on that =|.

well, judging from past experience of owning both SE K and C series, and N97, Iphone, to now Omnia HD. i'd have to say i was least impressed with N97. I am not loyal to a particular to a certain brand, but rather to a particular phone that has all the features i want and then some. The gripe i have with the majority of Nokia phone is that while it has good features, the built quality of the phone is so cheap. It doesn't feel like its worth 5, 6, or even 700 dollars at time. That is especially true for N95,96, and 97. SE on the other hand doesn't have as many fancy features as Nokias do, but they sure do make me feel like it is worth the price I paid on built quality alone. If you told me i would own a Korean phone 2 or 3 years ago i would have laughed in your face, but now i do own one, so haha i guess. To me, Korean phone looked pretty, build quality is great, but doesn't seem to be reliable and the features lacked. However, I've been thoroughly impressed with the Omnia HD on looks, build, quality, and features. So unless Nokia and SE can match my Omnia HD on those terms, the chance of me owning another Nokia or SE in the near future is slim to none.

It looks to be a decent phone, but I'll stick to my Omnia HD until Nokia makes capacitive touchscreen and update that carried over 5MP camera from N95.

I estimate this phone is going to be as popular as the n95. Even Nokia didn't expect this and thought it would be quite a niche product.

Nokia haters are clearly choking on their hatred for the N900. This is just the begining, by the time Nokia is through with you, u would have all commited mass suicide.lol

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2009what i hate about nokia is that they always come up with so... moreThe only thing you can prove where the N900 lacks in, is 8MP and HD video recording. Yet once again, someone has to say that megapixels isn't everything.

The Omnia 2 has a lesser MP camera than the HD, but it takes pictures just as well *sigh*

I can clearly present to you another mobile phone reviewer lie: Megapixels make the phone.

What a shame, I've seen tons of great phones tossed to the dirt because the dont have 8MP, and then those phones tossed because THEY dont have 12MP.

The difference isn't in the MP my friend, the difference is in the lens, the technology inside it, and the LED flash that supports it.

And then HD video recording, get real. Just because Omnia HD has one you expect that if the next Nokia doesn't have it, it won't live up to the Omnia? HD video recording is practically neccessary if you're a professional. Otherwise, you're just using it to say, "I have HD recording, I am teh winz".

You won't be able to watch those HD videos perfectly outside since your precious AMOLED screen, which is basically murdered by sunlight. I'm also saddened that we still don't know that resistive screens are just as good (or even better) than capacitive.

and 1 Ghz CPU, the N900, Omnia PRO, Pre, they all have 600Mhz with a combination of 256MB ram, and alot of runtime memory. Most phones don't deliver on 1Ghz because they're working on more important things, like customer service.

That way if you call CS up with you +1 Ghz, they don't put you on hold for 40 minutes. But while you wait, you can go record some videos in HD >

Wow now Nokia are talking for the first time since N95 8GB!

After having read several articles about Nokia N900 i feel intuitively that here comes the first real thing to come up there side by side with my iPhone 3G S!

I'm really looking foreword to be an owner of Nokia N900 in october!

what i hate about nokia is that they always come up with something good but they goof it at the end, this amazing phone has some serious stuff missing:

                        AMOLED capacitive screen
                        8 or 12MP camera
                        HD video recording
                        1Ghz CPU

Qwerty keyboard is not needed, it only makes it thicker.

as of yesterday i was determined to buy this over the Omnia HD but i think i am going for the sammy

Why do I have a feeling that they might do another N95 trick ? 5 months after the N900 primary release we see an N900 64GB for example with an 1800 baterry . I know it's less possible since this isn't a phone which is for mainstream public but I still wonder .. I would definetely regret . I will buy the phone though .. A definite E71 killer finally . If they don't release something trully interesting in the E-series segment @ Nokia Congress I will surely buy the N900 . I doubt the battery will last more than 24 hours but it will be the most enjoyable 24 hours on a phone hehe

Genius, the browser is based off of Web-Kit, which was designed by Apple. Hilarious that Apple gives Nokia and other phones a platform for mobile browsing just to have iNoobs say 1 1/2 years later that they stole it from them (LOL).

But then again this is the typical Apple response to Nokia. Just like their response to Apple is "no blutooh haha", your response to them is "you're copying off of me".

You can't think clear if your living in fairytales where OS' better than OSXmo are labeled as "copiers". Think smart. Wait 'til the phone is released.

Of course you can always go to Engadget. There you'll be praised as a hero for slanderous anti-Nokia comments xd.

                                  -Steve Jobs, WWDC 2006

I can see why that makes sense, especially since your customers will result in half-baked comments like "Nokia stole from Apple". That's rich. Granted I've see this similar comment 221 times already (in this thread), it never gets old.

I love the fact that Nokia "can't make their own products". Fact? lmao?! The OS (dashboard, whatever you want to call it) was made by Maemo, sponsored by Linux, which Nokia took a part in developing. Oh it gets better, because the Nokia N900 appearently took the multitasking idea from the iPhone...

And the browsing history it's like in Safari 4(Apple.Inc). An advice for Nokia - if you wanna start an avalanche on the mobile phone market, then do all your stuff by yourselves.
