Btw, Apple analysts have always said that market share comparatives are really stupid and tell us nothing.

_d3b_, 05 Feb 2015After using iOS for last 1 and half year I switched to Xper... moreYou do realize/remember/know that there are tons of icon packs (most of them come with a font as well) out there? :) Not sure about Sony's customization options, but there should be settings for choosing the apps you want to use notifications in the main settings of your phone.

At least on my HTC One M8 (with official Lollipop, to be exact), I can choose what type of notifications are shown and what apps use them.

I'm not a developer or programmer, but it shouldn't matter how much there is free RAM - shouldn't the Android OS be able to free it when needed. Never ever had a problem with M8's 2GB of ram - could be optimized better than Sony's rom.

_d3b_, 05 Feb 2015After using iOS for last 1 and half year I switched to Xper... moreObviously u r kidding. Icons have different size? That's exactly what we like. If they are all look alike, then they all look boring! They need to have different characters like art work. That's why ios is simply ugly. its also hard to use.

After using iOS for last 1 and half year I switched to Xperia Z3-(I am android app developer) as my primary phone. One thing for sure I don't like android for everyday device- I cant afford another device now. Things I miss - notification is much more organised in iOS- in android I can't configure which notification I don't want. Almost all apps (apart from some google, ms, yahoo apps) in android is terrible. Each and every icon is of different size?? Fonts are different - Not consistent at all. Unnecessary stuff - a lot. Can't imagine out of 3 GB RAM less than 800 MB is free even if I don't run any app. Auto brightness is wired - 20 mp camera does not produce better pic for sure.
As as developer of 5 apps on play store I noticed image handling in android is painful when the size is more than 3 mp.
Probably I will use z3 for next 1 year and switch to iOS again unless android system makes better memory management or else I will switch to Nexus may be. I don't like Samsung devices as they reduce their prices 1/4 in 2 and half month and reselling is horrible and my past exp with note 1 and note 5100 is terrible. And I don't like their features (apart from S-Pen)

What "success in doing so"? Good propaganda?
64 bit was useless with iPhone 5S and still is. When Apple can not give you real new tech or innovation, give you "magic". LOL
One day will be useful , though.

i have a friend that is a developer.

he said that , it's much easier to develope apps on the IOS operating system vs android.

the language is different, it's much more time consuming, and often, a lot of countless hours of troubleshooting is needed. not only that, the program you "successfully" complete might not run the same from android phone to android phone. by the tme they figure it out, it's not even worth the time to trouble shoot the program to get it running smoothly on that android phone.

Fragmentation, multiple device with diff behaviors. And the lack of a good ide compare to iOS.

So even if the marketshare shifted. The time to release android app is always longer.

Plus you need to deal with tons of piracy, and rooting phone people..

not surprised, recently apple over took samsung in manufacturer shares, Samsung fell below 20% with apple exceeding 20%.

look for them to continue to grow, as consumers who bought a flagship android phone from 2012 and 2013 will probably switch to ios.

                                    well done apple.

I'm surprised that the S5 was the second most popular handset. Thought that the 6+ would have gotten the silver medal since it was out of stock constantly until 2015.
