Original HTC One won't get Android 5.1 or future versions

19 March, 2015
The Taiwanese company's flagship from two years ago is apparently at the end of the support line.

Whant a regular updates, get Iphone you will get regular updates to your os. Its business, what newer OS buy a new device, 2year over root it, install custom rom, no problems, they promised 2 year os update and they kept the word. About samsung, i dont know when wifes s4 will get 5.1 i think it wont, if there needed so much time for 5.0.1 on international variant

I don't care about official update, I'm already running new Sense 7 on my M7 and M8. And android 5.1 will come to Sense version of the M7 just not official, but rather in a form of custom rom from XDA forum.

AnonD-315435, 20 Mar 2015Shame on google. There are many bugs in lollipop 5.0. Then ... moreShame on you rather. How is that Google's fault? Did Google discourage HTC to stop supporting HTC M7? Is HTC who made the decision. Is HTC who decided not to waste resources on a 2 years old model. What an ignorant guy.

This bit of news confirm HTC's contempt for the consumer. I was considering the M9 when available but unfortunately there is no guarantee HTC will continue to provide updates in two years time. Thus I assume the M9 like the M7 will be obsolete in two years. I've been stung twice in the past by HTC and do not wish to be disappointed for a third time. I admit HTC do make excellent products but I don't like uncertainty and will stay with Samsung or opt for the Sony Z4 when released. Unfortunately I doubt if HTC will see my comment nor do they really care. Perhaps this contempt contributed in sliding sales & the dominance they once enjoyed.

HTC...!! They can't even give this bug fix release?!.
Companies should Aleast release all drivers so that people can get some bug free custom roms

The s6 is about to be released. So that would be three years of update for the S3 and is not required.
Though there is still a chance its getting it anyway. And the Note 2 from a few months later will be getting the update in a couple months making its update record almost 3 years.

Shame on google. There are many bugs in lollipop 5.0. Then is it not cheating android user's. I remembered how people reacted when Microsoft didn't upgraded wp7 to wp8.( actually they at least updated to 7.8 which looks like wp8). Microsoft didn't upgrade those just due to hardware restrictions. But here Android htc as all needed hardware( that to flagship phone) and updated to lollipop 5 but wont get further updates, this is like leaving a Pearson with disease caused by a doctor mistake and the doctor don't take the responsibility for it and ignores for giving treatment to him.
