Original HTC One won't get Android 5.1 or future versions

19 March, 2015
The Taiwanese company's flagship from two years ago is apparently at the end of the support line.

And they tend to bog down the older iphone.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2015How is one company doing this describe all??? And since ... moreU mean like the Lumia 520 which was launched the same date as the htc one m7 at MWC 2013 but with 1/4 of the price of the one m7, ohhhh I forgot, MS is updating the 520 to W10, so the low end user of WP is getting more updates the high end user of android. How ironic !!.
As powerful as android is, downplaying WP or trying to downplay this tragic news are just hiding behind the fact that, indeed, one of android's achel's heels is its update (or lack thereof) cycle including the high end segment. Funnily, the Htc 8x (which is 8 months older) might get W10 as well

And that completely negates that while htc m7 is not gettinga full two years update the Note 2 will be getting almost 3 when it gets it update.

it's no fault of HTC alone, but it's pathetic how fast smartphones become obsolete! i'm glad aftermarket support exists! thank god for all those xda devs...

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2015Thank you for proving exactly what I said. I'm not a fanboy who bashes anyone. I have had many devices from most of the major manufacturers and I work in the tech industry.
I haven't bashed anyone but pointed out the obvious that HTC puplicly stated that they would be supporting their devices for 2 years. The 2 years for the M7 are up so why are people complaining???
And then trolls like you coming on saying it's a horrible move (your statement doesn't make sense as they are only keeping to what they promised).

what a shame, after my horrible experience with HTC butterfly, i decided not to buy HTC ever again, with M9 i had to admit its a better device than galaxy S6, but its like i will buy neither of them when i come to USA, i will just buy me a nexus device, the old nexus 4 till this day gets update till 5.1 while new devices like HTC butterfly, stuck at 4.3 and HTC butterfly s 4.4 & HTC one M7 stuck at 5.0 the only high end device worth buy is galaxy note series, the old note 2 will be update all the way to 5.0 n lenovo, i have a mid range lenovo updated from 4.0 all the way to 4.4 better support than anything HTC ever did for a flagship phone.

Julian, 19 Mar 2015I'm going to highlight one word from your comment: PLANNING... moreLOL! So because they make a factual comment in reply to a htc fanboy non factual one you have to get hurt and bash on the 4.4 update to the S3...Which turned out great btw. And all phones have had update bugs. HTC Samsung LG Apple Sony Nokia all....

And the S3 got 4.4 as a 2012 device before most 2013 devices were getting it. And the Note 2 as a 2012 device will be one of the only ones to be getting Lollipop.
In fact there is even a chance the S3 will even be getting lollipop.

So this statement "So, people, please, PLEASE, don't waste your time making stupid statements about something you don't know." applies very much to you too.
