"...LG took the wraps off a new-generation 5.5” QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) IPS LCD display with 538 ppi and 120% color gamut..."

... and so the pissing contest between manufacturers continues...

AnonD-357336, 03 Apr 2015we don't need to be forced with bigger screens.. it's bigg... moreI guess this is due to the fact that manufacturers develop the screens themselves but not the batteries. They buy the batteries from an external party and label them with their logo.

But indeed we NEED better battery-tech. I too would rather have a slightly smaller screen with slightly less pixels (FHD is perfect both in visual quality as obtainable media content). Because it consume a bit less power and doesn't put the brakes on gaming/media-performance.

One o/t main reason why I'm skipping the new phones in 2016 and stick with what I've got (SGS5 and Nokia 808PV)

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2015If you guys want to complain that 5.5 inch is not a phone s... more5" is still (too) big.

For me the max. is 4.7" FHD. Lower sizes e.g. 4" are fine with 960x480 pixels (or even less like Nokia's infamous qhd 640x360). I currently have a S5 and that's TOO big to comfortably handle with one hand. Big sizes are better to play games though as your hands aren't cramped near to bottom o/t screen when using onscreen controls.

IMHO opinion something like a 4" Nokia 808PV is the perfect size for a pocket-able phone. It's thick enough not to loose or break. It feels sturdy enough to withstand day to day life with confidence. I've played with a Jiayu G4 advanced (with the 3000Mha thicker battery) and that was the biggest to handle comfortable with one hand. It had no protruding camera, lovely FHD resolution at 4,7" and was aesthetically the perfect 4,7" phone IMHO. It's only drawback was bad GPS reception outside China (due to no Glonas-support) and bad GPS-antenna implementation. IMHO for the smaller 3.7" phones the Nokia 701 and N8 where the best in size, handling and aesthetics. The N8 looked, and IMHO still looks, fantastic.

we don't need to be forced with bigger screens..
it's bigger and better batteries what we need..
but I guess a bigger screen is more "bling bling" for sales and easier to develop than batteries..
also ergonomics seems to be completely forgotten..
you put on bigger screens, so the whole phone gets bigger, BUT you also make them more slippery and difficult to get a good grip for one handed operation.. HELLOOO!!

Just want better efficiency and not so sharp text that it looks weird as in g3 scree. Should be sharp and crisp but looks relaxing to eyes as well like note 4 and probhably s6..

It's sad to see LG keeping the 5.5" screen size. I have a G2 and I didn't even think about buying the G3 because it doesn't fit my pocket (and it's inferior overall but that's another thing). LG should have kept a 5.2" screen.

But if they reduce the bezels even more (also the upper and lower areas) and slap in a 4500mAh battery, I may consider it.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2015Awe how cute. All fan hurt and don't have the guts to reply... more4.7-5.2 inch is ideal. I had used HTC One and LG G2 previously and I found that G2 screen size is perfect for me. But everything seems to be moving forward and not backwards, so things does change. I'm not against people hating on bigger screen size because everybody do have their own opinion, but what I am trying to say is that we just have to adapt to it.

I think the screen size is not the problem here, but the phone size. Even for the G2 with 5.2 inch has almost near identical dimensions with a S4 with a 5.0 inch screen.

Hope it doesn't take its toll on the battery life. Meanwhile, 4000mah battery won't be a bad idea.

Nobody said people don't like the larger displays. In fact I prefer them. But I'm not foolish enough to think everyone does.
The issue is not that 5.5inches is too big for everyone. The issue is this is their phone flagship line where the 4.7-5.2inch with right bezels is the usual max for the average user.

For anything larger they have their updated phablet versions or other phones with sizes inbetween the two.

Completely surpassing the phone size and entering phablet size was foolish.
