Samsung acknowledges Galaxy S5 Lollipop update issues

This update is awful. My phone is running slower than it was before the update. Messenger is a joke. It freezes and stalls.

I was really happy with my Galaxy S5, till the recent update which is sending me up the wall. After having issues with the original I had it replaced with a supposedly new set, only to find out that the one i was given was refurbished and with loads of problems. Eventually I was given another set and hoila`, was really happy with it. Not any more! Now it's not saving pictures, taking ages to effect a call, re starts on its own, seems like it's doing as it pleases. Time to change to iphone

Why fix it if it isn't broke? I had no problems with my phone prior to the update, since then: 1) battery life significantly shortened by about a third. 2) it keeps restarting on it's own, 4 to 5 times a day, which causes me to loose data in the gps tracking based apps that I use. 3) When it restarts you cannot use fingerprint to open the phone, you now must enter the security password. 4) sometimes when taking photos if not holding perfectly still it takes 4 - 5 seconds after you snap the photo before before it captures the image, which by that time the image you were trying to take is gone or has changed. There is a processing light that comes on and makes a circle around the photo capture button as soon as you snap the photo but it only captures the image that is on the screen when that circle is complete. 5) ocassionally while typing a text everything you have been typing just disappears and you have to start over.
I have noticed no improvements with the update the only thing I have noticed are the problems I have noted and the change in the icons. What was the purpose of this update?

I have the S5 active since the update all of the music on my SD card is inaccessible. If I go to my files I can see that it is still there as well. My camera will still save photos to the SD card, however I am seeing a lot more file corruption. I used to like samsung a lot simply because of the expanded memory capability, now they seem to push out updates that kill your phone and hope you buy a shiny new samsung. This is BS and I will be picking and new provider.

I loved my old Google (Nexus 5) phone. When Lollipop update was installed, my phone went into an optimizing loop and over 9 weeks my phone worked less and less and then it died. Now my Samsung s6 has updated system software to Lollipop and immediately my phone is having issues. Favorites in phone contacts is gone and I can not figure out how to get it working. Frustrating. I should have noticed it was Lollipop that the system wanted to install. :-(

Horrible, phone is slow, It locks up when I try to view my pictures, it won't even load them all prior to locking up. Why would they send out an update like this ??? There are numerous other issues posted from other users. Is their Engineering Department stupid ??? Did they maybe think to test it before they released it to millions of users? ??? WTF ??? Time to clean house in the Engineering and Quality control Department Ya Think ??? This is so basic wow what a bunch of incompetent people !!!!

Decided stupidly to accept update from SAMSUNG !!!! on my s 5 mini that was working perfectly well . Now instead of a phone all I have is a useless piece of metal and plastic that is constantly caught in a loop with screen saying Android is starting optimising app 1 of 199 then switches off and starts again....Samsung really you need to fix this issue NOW !!! this is not good enough definitely will be the last Samsung product I will buy at least APPLE can update their product with rendering them completely useless..

This new update is garbage. Big mistake to allow my phone to update! NOT HAPPY AT ALL!
I am constantly restarting my phone now because it is slow and freezes. When I am texting someone the keyboard will no activate right away - when is does it types every word in twice then I have to erase the message and try again. Also for some reason my keyboard stays up and open for 10 seconds when I exit text messaging with the home button.
All my favourite contacts are gone and will not appear again. Overall everything seems slower and it is very frustrating. This sucks!

Another one mini after update is without soft keys. Last two days im trying to fix my wife's phone but with no successes :-( Luckly we have my old HTC One x so she has a phone.

Mine would not power on, so I called Samsung and spent the night troubleshooting also wiped out the phone and the tech gave up said call tomorrow. Called AT&T they said it was a Samsung bug, called Samsung again and they blamed AT&T so after a discussion they suggested I go to Best Buy to get it reloaded...Samsung rep at Best buy blamed my battery and used his to load the system...was going to buy his battery and then it went into a reboot loop again...he said the phone is bad get a new one...it is out of warranty. My AT&T coverage will cost almost as much as a different replacement BUT AT&T still thinks it is a software bug and I should wait for a patch...meanwhile I have no phone and not inclined to use Samsung again...had a Moto G for years with never a problem

Has anyone had bad service since the update. About 2 months ago I had great service with Verizon where I work but not I am lucky to get a bar or 2 if I go outside the office to make a call. I will see 4 bars when I turn on my phone but when I make the call it goes to 1 or 0 bars. I went to Verizon but of course they blamed it on the phone.

Where to even start with the new update! First of all my battery won't hold a long charge, I even got a second battery and even then new one wont hold a charge. My phone gets hot with or without a case i had to get a new phone and its gets hot. Second i had to delete some of the apps cause it says its not supported even tho the google play store says it supports the galaxy. When I'm on Facebook, Instagram, or snapchat i have to restart my phone when it freezes up or delete the app t
Wait a few mins (sometimes a day or two) the redownload the apps back up again. Please get it fix.

Since the update last night, it has shown that it is updating my contacts. incoming calls show a name etc, but I can not access my contacts to phone out. not even the log can be accessed!!!!!!!!!!

Why do I never learn .. updates generally cause a reduction in clean swift actions, dumb down and change icon images unnecessarily and only partly overwrite applications leaving chaos. My phone is now losing battery life at a faster rate, nearly burst into flames during update, and no facility has been noticeably improved whatsoever despite me being quite pleased with how I have deleted, reset & restored where necessary which took up most of today.

Since I ran the update facebook, yahoo, words, any app will not do the auto refresh. So I am not seeing up to date comments, post, emails or notifications. Sometimes the app will freeze to which I have clear them from the recent used app and they will work for a short amount of time but then freeze up again.

Why don't I learn not to install updates. Updates always seem to break something that worked before. I no longer can use my bank app and the Rsap link to my VW premium carphone kit has totally died. Judging by previous posts, there are other problems I am yet to find on the S5 Mini

After update a week ago - my S5 became as OLD stile analogue phone - Screen is black and you can use just soft keys to answer a call without knowing who is calling. Of course - you can do that only if you initially programmed those buttons for answer and end the call, if not - you can not even answer a call. Hope - phone will be repaired under warranty conditions.
