Anonymous, 30 Oct 2009when N97 start sales, is the price is below 450EURO or equa... moreAre you sure that those are the figures for the sales of the N97 alone, or are you just posting the quarterly figures for all phones and attributing that to the success of the N97? That considered, the sales figures for Quarter 3 2008, before the N97 was released, were almost 20% higher than those for Q3 2009. I agree with the article.

obBi0, 01 Nov 2009I'm sorry to bother brother... but please tell me: Why the ... moreI don't know other Asian countries but I have an idea about two of them, India and Pakistan. We usually don't get new devices specially high-end devices here very late. What I have seen, people are crazy for cell phones but they are not much aware of full uses, they are getting there fast now so changes are coming to good but still some way to go.
I had to wait to get P1 (from Sony Ericsson) for 5 months after its launched so you can imagine. iPhone hits here nearly after 8 months I think or more, I hardly see HTC around here and so on.
Prices are another issue due to Dollar/Euro rates, 700$ is Rs. 50,000 to us and average salary is usually 8,000 or less.
Then the law and order situation in most of these places, mobile snatching is common, and on several places it is as extreme as shoot-to-kill-on-resistance so no one want to carry an expensive mobile set openly.
Another negative issue raising is comparing high-end sets with China handsets, for common people high-end sets are just like any another mobile phone with a beautiful and bigger look and when they see 'beautiful' look to China mobile they go for that.
Anyway, so combination of all these are what reduce us to think for two things, when and how much. :) For most of us. I hope this helps.

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2009when N97 start sales, is the price is below 450EURO or equa... moreHowever, according to the article from "fan of almgihty brand" site below:
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_q3_financial_results_are_out_not_much_has_changed-news-1183.php
Sales for the almighty brand dropped serious when being compared to last year, and despite more sales than previous quarter, profit actually dropped in Q3.
So more sales = more losses? Did you know how exactly the almighty brand captures so much market share? Do network service providers in where you live provide a bunch of $0 handsets from the almighty brand? Do you think the network service providers really subsidized the customers by paying for these handests? Or did the almighty brand slashes prices on these handsets and lure the network service providers to "carry them" on the shelves?

There is nothing to wait for. It is based on ancient, almost 3 year old architecture for mid level devices. Even low end nokia smartphones run on faster chips right now.

I think a price of around €380-€420 after taxes is much more reasonable for the N97 mini. I reckon I will just wait till the price comes down a bit.

U know what.. i travelled to asia expecting to pick up this phone the end of october (which nokia announced it would be available). It is still not out yet i am so disappointed. I was prepared to shell out my $700+ USD for this phone but i guess Nokia aint getting my money because they can't even get a phone that has a year old technology.... to come out on time... like come on Nokia, this is a N97 with a different shell. why do you have to wait more than a year to make this available?

It really disappointing, nokia not keeping up with its promise for the lower price, the idea was to lower the price with the reduction of device size and the cutting down of the memmory from 32gb to 8 gb......plus there is a lot delay in the arrival where in we have products from other brands as well....

i was really looking forward to this one, at that price though i may as well get the full brick an have the cool 4way button. this should have been at least 100€ less than the full brick 97.

For those who think this is a rip-off or bad move from Nokia.
Trust me I am not a Nokia guy, well the way I see myself, I like Sony Ericsson more but here I am talking about some part of technology. They produce smaller version of this handset not for the price but for the benefit. They must have go through many changes inside this small body to fit all the functions inside including new hardware, not in speed but in smaller size which obviously cost more so the cost is right. The big set will not fit into your pockets so get a better one, better set, more price. It is not rubber piece that you cut it in half and sale it for less.
Prices are also changed on colors basis, white/grey could be less cost than black. I mean it is just the color it should come in same price but black in everything is usually cost more.
Same case is the hard-drives, same storage size in small physical size cost always way more so get your mind going on for a change and divide the technology from piece of metal on this one.
They hand you an option, get this or get that, they are not asking for get this over that. If I want to choose between them both I will go for mini without caring about the price and I think this is a good move to offer verity of same handset in different sizes.
