wtf... are they thinking! Is this phone made of gold? They should set the price tag of the 5800 at the beginning 395 euros + 50 euros for the keypad = 450 euros after taxes! The street price will get down rapidly. All N97 fans have N97 allready, there is no more marker left for the mini, especially when it comes out too late.

5800 rulz at $200USD! Keeping it until Maemo is mature. Paying $500+ for a brick is ridiculous!

5800 is good phone with some great features but no all, bad screen, bad camera and made with real plastic is like you use a phone from corn flake box, Now I using LG Km900 (arena) Is more better than 5800 and I more happy with it, more features and great interface

I like reading all your post. Me being nokia fan from day one only got one comment. Nokia is dying. Mini pricing positioning is out else perhap it will be the next cash cow for nokia. 5800 so far is the best selling for Nokia till now sold for a cool 8 to 9 million unit. 5800 got all the feature expect for a POOR CAMERA performance despite it 3.2 mega pix. 5800 priced at very competitive price. That why 5800 is selling like hot cake. Still going strong.
As for mini i like it better to n97 mainly for the size. N97 feel like a brick to be carry everyday.
Nokia please wake up. Your good old day since N95 day are gone. Mini for 450 euro i can get a nice laptop.
Hope Nokia can defend his market leader position. Nokia can still sell mainly because is a old brand cheap and reliable. Wake up. Wake up Nokia. You need more phone like 5800 to catch up. A nice feature phone with a well positioned price. Mini pricing is out.

i miss the days of 7650 6600 n-gage those were really powerhouses (at the time).every phone was no way near in design like the other ones, just vague resemblances at most.now every nokia looks like the one before it,even the hardware under the case is same.they really plunged down

Oh by the way.. at the moment I use Nokia 5800xm..
                    Does it look cheap? yes
Is it a brick? yes it is
But truth is that it's the cheapest and reliable all rounder on the market... calls, messagin, camera, wi-fi, gps... all working proper...
Personaly I prefer SE phones... dunno why, but I do =) go check SATIO... far better than N97 mini dick

armstrong, 29 Oct 2009 It's one of desperate move from nokia, their handset kee... moreI agree with you in most aspects... but not all:
I don't like the way you misjudge SonyEricsson, although there's some truth in your words...
And believe me in this one (because I sell phones), unfortunantely you won't see Nokia dropping from market leader because most of dumb people that buys phones only asks for Nokia.. they are unable to see other brands.. it's like you ask someone gay to turn hetero... he simply won't!
This was due to Nokia being smarter in that time and offered the simple and fast User Interface... that was Nokia's biggest catch in the 90's and early 2000's...
Nowadays we can easily see and understand that Nokia is nothing more than a big company, selling big, european company by the way, that produces cheap "china-like" phones =)

I think that nokia have some porblems with their tocuh screen phones because although I have and really love 5530, I can't help but notice that all of the phones they release are just variations of the tube...

Maybe maemo 5 really could help them now...

It's one of desperate move from nokia, their handset keeps falling behind in sales compare to the competitors, yet they're still doing the worst trick in marketing : cheating loyal customers & repeating mistakes from their past,so it's clear now what's ahead in 2010 for nokia :

1)The market leader position will have a new winner, unless nokia could come up with a remarkable product like they did in the first launch of N-series.

2)The high end market will be ruled by either HTC,Apple,Blackberry, and even Samsung might have a chance in this position, don't expect too much on N900,that'll be a nasty failure like N97.

3)The middle range market will also be hard for nokia,as Samsung,LG and not to mention the dying SE could make their return to make nokia loose here.

4)As for the low end, various chinese brands and others---same old news,Samsung & LG are also here---already penetrate nokia's market.

The only thing that keep nokia from free fall to the abyss in 2009 is the brand, along with support from loyal fans, but let's just see how long it'd last.

Nokia is old,too tired to fight,it's time for their long hibernation, just give it up to otther

i think nokia should stop on the high end market after the X6 and the N900, go back to design a new phone, give up on Symbian, al least for the high end and promote MAEMO, so they can enter in that market share again
