Anonymous, 17 May 2015Hehe that's the most advanced and used os in the world and ... moreWho said it's dead? :) Of course it's not dead, like i said it's very hard to make money with android, that's why apple and samsung collect all the profits in the market, because there's too many players and you really can't stand out in anyway with android. You need to have best phone or lower the price of your phones if you want to sell.

Of course those mobile companies are thinking the ways how they can stand out again and get people buy their devices instead of those 100 different others android phones.

It probably would be another android skin, in that it'll be a fork of AOSP. I don't see huawei having the chops to make a brand new OS..

Primark, 17 May 2015Whatever happened to sailfish OS? Why not just adopt it? I ... moreIt's based on MeeGo and as a former MeeGo user I can promise that it's not good and never had a chance. Nokia should have continued the Maemo OS line, Maemo5 was incredible mature. Apple and Google should give some billions to Stephen Elop, no other single person has done more to promote Ad-droid and iOS by removing all viable alternatives.

AnonD-174449, 17 May 2015Boring Android ? Have you ever owned an android phone ? Gue... moreMore likely that you haven't used anything else than Ad-droid. I had many addroid flagships and thought they were the best but after I changed to iOS I just feel sorry for people using Addroid.

The new OS is much needed, the shocking success of iOS in China is a definite proof that iOS has no competition in the high end market and someone need to step up with an alternative. Let's see in 2018 how things will be.

It probably would be like Yun OS or MIUI, in that it'll be a fork of AOSP. I don't see huawei having the chops to make a brand new OS.

I'm no expert but in order to become succesful(or even survive) in the mobile market of today, you have to have a thriving app store with a humongous amount of apps available. If developers won't develop apps for your eco-system, you slowly become absolete, no matter how awesome your phone hardware is.

If Huawei build a new OS on the Linux kernel similar to Android, but with a different UI, and that can run Android apps without any major hiccups, then I think it's possible to gain popularity(in China atleast).

It is most likely to be made for low-end devices to compete with Samsung Z1 running Tizen, some random sub-$40 phone running Firefox OS and stuff like those. Since HuaWei is already well-known, having thr new OS on a new sub-flagship phone would be a game changer. If it's success

Not surprised, everyone knows android is dead end and the time when you could have made lot of money with android ended long time ago.

There's just too many players sharing same cake and results have been shown last few years. Samsung is the only one who make nice money with android and even their profits are going down a lot.
