Instead of this hook ,we can use small button on right or left side of the handset which allows user to lock/unlock the keypad with single push. this hook design is meaningless and stupid

The only hook is for Captain Hook in Peter Pan, not for mobiles.
This is novel idea, and that's being polite. If this was an early idea when mobiles were being made, it may have been considered and adopted but it would have been dropped later on.
It will break, add a pointless cost to making the phone, look strange and not fit in with the overall phone design. Unless it is some sort of scanner at the end of the hook, this will remain a concept. Also, something like this has probably be considered and not adopted, it's not the worst idea so that's something positive.

what is this for..i think we dont need that locking mechanism..the key pad can do that so the smart unlock..and we dont need to put the mic closer to us, the mic are sensitive enough..this feature can add up to the price of a phone when they put it on it..what a crap..but try it though..

Agree, an extendable microphone like the "conceptual" hook design provides food for thought and will allow designers to explore other shapes and sizes to that of the standard candy bar or flip phone design. However the hook is unattractive, and has no real useful purpose - Built in Microphones on micro handsets will still function normally, and a 2 click keylock is harldy a monotonous task!
Back to the drawing board I say!

I predict a lot of angry people if this HOOK is released in a phone, something that I'm sure will never happen.

reminds me of my original cell phone. SE T39. It worked very nicely on that product. it seems like and idea from a different era. it could deploy a microphone helping some manufactures pathetic voice communication on there touch screen phones.

wat a stupid n stone age idea......a flip cover is even better den the HOOK.it can portect the key pad as well.in presume the DESIGNER never seen a flip phone before in he entire life

There might be couple of phones based on this idea but I'm pretty sure it will fail. The whole idea is nothing new and its implementation does not look neither appealing nor that much functional. This looks like basic ideas that comes to everybody's mind almost everyday and usually are ignored because they either looks stupid or not worth even trying. On the other hand I personally don't think this feature adds much to the current technology.

This sounds like a GREAT idea. Especially the 'flip', since it can give the 'banana-shape' that fits the head best. THe slider has the same problem as a standard slider, that it can be opened in a bag or pocket.
But it should NOT be a solid hook, on the contrary, it shall either be rather flexible, to handle the inevitable physical stress. Or perhaps even easy detachable, so it can easily be clicked back if/when it 'breaks' of. Using the two sides as terminals for the microphone, (like some early Nokia sliders, if I remember right). Perhaps with a thin elastic thread on each side, so when it breaks of, it hangs by the phone, and doesn't get lost.

Interesting design. As a brazilian, I'm not afraid to say that we're very creative, but it isn't really an inovation. I remember when I got my first mobile phone in 1996. It was from USA. It was bar shape, but with a "hook" on its side. I just had to pull the hook to talk. The phone was very tinny compared to others on that time, but with the "hook" the microphone could be near to my mouth
