Samsung could have been more nationalistic naming their new OS. Calling it "kimchi" would be great....seriously.

no, i think this may be the solution to the many problems.
its like depending on somebody else. sasmsung or any other company which uses some of established mobile os are constantly depending of their releases, application and games availability and upgrades that they cant do anything but wait for them. if symbian dont release an upgrade samsung can do nothing but listen to customers complaining, and in the end they lose shareholders and customers.
now they can do everyting and if their os becomes like todays symbian and lack of apps and ames than everybody knows that they are to be blamed nobody else. thats why its good. no more middle hand

New OS doesn't really matter until it is compatible with cross-platform PIM

They will partner with MS and rename the OS as Bada-Bing.

Oops, I meant that *BADA* is not a competitor to Symbian...

trancehell, 10 Nov 2009Definitely, waaaay too many mobile operating system, differ... more"We", you say? No no no no no... it's "I", because others can see the purpose of Android in this world. That includes me.

Anyway... you're right, this is probably a bad move from Samsung because there *is* already enough mobile OSes... Maemo, Symbian, OSX mobile (what's the name again?), Android, WinMo. Good luck competing with these.

Neither is a competitor to Symbian (in case it is supposed to be), because: 1) S60 is everywhere, 2) S60 already has trillions of apps, 3) S60 from now on is all downhill, competition now is not a problem, nor a threat.

Poor symbian, I feel sorry for symbian.

But, symbian was useful only in nokia phones, so I guess it is logical move for companies not calling "Nokia".

Oh please... Operating Systems are the least of their worries. They should really improve their phone's designs! I actually quite like their specs a little but their designs really put me off! Samsung please improve your phone's designs and user interfaces... Because they all look ugly.

Definitely, waaaay too many mobile operating system, different, app incompatible... We don't see Android's purpose on this world, let alone some other obscure OS... Where is the standardization everyone seemed to work at ?

this will only be popular if it has 3rd party app support, that can take arnd 5 yrs i guess, so no bad time for symbian.....cause by then the symbian app store will have thousands of apps.....but the Ui and other stuff can be good.....only time will tell

hopefully this will be good. Nit that i'll ever use it though, as i will never use a samsung device, i have had way too much bad expereince with them. I will stick to symbian... I wonder if maemo will ever be available to the masses or just for high end devices only
