AnonD-158573, 11 Jun 2015What HTC need is : 1. Marketing 2. Refresh their smartpho... moreI beg to differ. HTC spends more money on marketing than any other smartphone manufacturer, save for Samsung and Apple. They hired Iron Man to be their spokesman, for gosh sakes. Their problem isn't marketing, or camera/SOC/screen choice. It's about years of poor design choices. The years with 'Beats' branding probably did the most damage because, let's face it, only young boys/men think Beats anything are cool, and older, more reserved people didn't want a gangsta rapper's logo adorning their smartphone. That, coupled with the fact that their phones are way too large to justify the 5" screen size, plus the bloated, trying-not-to-look-like-Android Android launcher, and the tired, 3-year-old industrial design (which, in my experience selling cell phones, isn't appreciated by women at all). HTC needs to completely rethink the HTC One series the way Samsung did their Galaxy series, and soon.

I feel sorry for HTC. I think it's not entirely M9's fault. You see, many chinese phones have aggressive pricing combined with decent specs.HTC should make their pricing, among other things, right

that htc branding in the black useless bar along with gimmicky boom sound speaker brought them to this new level of low. like me many people must have decided not to buy htc phones because of its huge dimension utilizing nothing and making it plain ugly.people who listen to music does not enjoy music in phones loud speaker so stop wasting space,if you can then provide a good camera, I don't think that's going to take this much space as the speakers take.

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2015HTC needs an IP67-certified phones with removable battery, ... moreYep. Was anyone surprised when theirs and Samsung's sales figures took a hit when their flagships lost the SD slots and removable batteries? Ratcheting up the retail prices didn't help either.

I love HTC... But they brought this to themselves.

Their last 2 flagships were uninspired besides on the physical aspect, obviously. Worse, the company also refused to, at least, follow the major trends (ois, camera quality, fingerprint scanner, screen to body ratio...). Although i dont really mind any of these, having a device which falls in ALL of these aspects simultaneously is a shame.

                        Doing it twice is suicide.

The One M9+ seems alright although the camera apparently sucks as well, but obviously, since this company is decidedly suicidal, they will not bring it to Europe / the US.

I will not pity them, I've wanted to buy, but they never delivered

All HTC need to do to recover is make another phone like the M7. That one had a simply stunning new design, and excellent technology (except the camera). It needs to have a good battery life, no useless black bar below the screen, and a dramatic reduction in bezels while retaining the Boom sound stereo speakers. People appreciate things like fingerprint scanners and a good camera too. That's it.

HTC also don't need to scare customers off by threatening to put ads in Blink Feed- that was a terrible mistake.

Well, that was pretty much expected. Black bar is showing its colors!
HTC does make very good build quality, but apart from that what else, average (or below average camera), not staying with competition, similar design again and again, not listening to customer requirements, that's what it will happen.
And I have been using M7 since last 2 years, was using Sensation before that, and was thinking to buy M9, but it was a complete heart-break. I am moving to Samsung S6.
Still its not too late for HTC to wake up, else it will end up like NOKIA!

AnonD-19153, 11 Jun 2015That's what you get if you manufacturer sh!tt! phonesexpensive phones. they are ok, just doesn't worth money they ask for them, including low and mid range. and lack of updates does its job as well. only top phones that cost 1,5-2 times of average salary in BRICS receives 1,5 year of software support.

cut low and mid range by 20%. cut top range by 30%. make a single firmware for all devices and don't cancel or postpone updates until new devices. they still blindly believe that people will rush shops to receive a new phone, just because of newer OS. people will rather buy someone's else phone for that.

That is the price you pay for recycling phones. Next is Sony, recycling the line up and making them water proof is not going to cut it. Samsung came out with a new line up, devastating effect, and so has Apple . HTC had the one, than the M8,M9,M(= all recycling with upgrades. No can do.
