What genius have found out this way to AVOID one of the greatest benefits of a flip-phone, the protection of screen and keyboard???
We could hope that it's just the pictures, and that the hinge goes both ways... Not very likely though.

I like something with a touch of weirdness, because of that we are no longer living in caves and wearing caveman trunks because of the "weird guys" back then that tend to be different.

If you want a toch oriented phone with a keyboard, this is one way to do it.
You could make a slider, but then the keyboard would be slightly smaller than on this (and you have all the slider issues).
You could make a twist and turn, like most tablets with keyboard, but the twist solution uses more space.
Or you could do a flip-up, but then you would need two big screens, perhaps the inner does not need to be a touch one, since you have the keyboard... but, it would make the device much thicker.
SO the backflip solution isnt all that bad... yeah, i know, the keys are not protected, but they arent on for example Nokia E72, the blackberrys or any candy-bar numeric one...
The touchpad is placed akwardly, it would have been better to place a trackball on the front... or one of those optical joystics. (this way its no where near your fingers in qwerty mode and hidden in touch mode)
The camera placement has its ups and downs... This way you only need one camera, even if you want to make video calls. But the placement is not that good for videocalls.... when in "touchmode" the camera placement is ok, but the lens would be covered with grease of your fingers, and dust from pockets, sweat from your palm.
Its not all bad, next generation of this phone, if they work out all the details, could be a really smart qwerty/touch device. (a smart alternative for sliders... more room for the keyboard, and none of those slider-issues)

A mule made in to production.
Every now and then manufactors of products (and be cars, mobiles, tvs and so on) relase a product that test different solutions for next generation of products.
This seems like one of them.
Motorola are just trying different things, to see what works... the only problem with this, is that Motorola dont have the kind of money to do this kind of consumer tests... they should have handed the device out to some testers insted, get the feedback in that way instead of getting it from consumer... sure the price of productions for each unit would be higher, but this will probably not be a hit, and they will end upp with a loss...

Moto haters are praising droid just to insult this fone.
