look at the language:
Google "it will release monthly security updates"
Samsung "regularly about once per month"
Google's language "It will" has a lot of standing in a court of law, Samsung's language legally speaking is the equivalent of saying they plan to do nothing.

"It affects versions 2.2 Froyo and newer and newer of the OS" which indicates older device will get the updates monthly too.

They should have already done so. My note 4 sometimes freezes and cant do anything. Plus I think the ram can get too full sometimes and that why it causing freezing.

I am pretty sure Samsung won't release security updates for non-flagship devices. In the end what difference does this news make? They release updates for flagship as soon as an issue appears.

They should also finally focus on optimizing their OS! Google...maybe,,,, Samsung,,, highly doubt it...... At the moment Android needs similar recources as Windows 10 to run (fairly) smoothly.....
