I really see no propose in nokia releasing s40 touchscreens. One reason I love nokia is that at the price of the lg cookie, I can get a full powered smartphone nokia 5530. But now you're downgrading? you'll be just like those other samsung with million entry level phones, and cookie and pop. Nokia shouldn't ditch s40 as elderly prefer it over s60, but I don't...

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2009It shows how desperate Nokia is getting they shouldn't have... moreYes, Nokia was a bit slow (well, really slow) at finally noticing what was going on around them, but hopefully they will earn from this mistake and pull themselves out of this downward spiral. With Maemo 6 and Symbian^2/Symbian^3 around the corner, they should be able to achieve this. All though the it hurts me to say this, the iPhone is a good phone, however, it isn't perfect. For example, it doesn't have multitasking capabilities or the ability to send files over bluetooth without hacks. And as for you statement about the iPhone out selling all N an E series, I find this a bit far-fetched. Sure the 'supposed' iPhone will sell like hotcakes, but not everyone can afford it and will often opt for a cheaper phones and since Nokia sells cheap smartphones, it will be difficult for it to succeed at what you speculate at - especially with a refreshed UI on Symbian and the developer friendly linux OS Maemo 5 and soon to be 6 gaining ground.

Dani, 30 Dec 2009And all are false aqusations against Apple, the GSM patent... moreWelcome to the world of business. For the record, I don't think a corporation can be defined as being jealous. And yes, it appears Apple has allegedly breached patents that Nokia owns, I have read the claims. Apple has then counter-sued, but with the most ridiculous claims. One of them is that they are practically suing Nokia for having a customizable UI (themes) on their phones - hasn't Nokia had this feature since long before iPhone? But you, most likely an Apple yuppie, are blind with arrogance, among other things, to what Apple really does behind its close doors. I'm not protecting Nokia here, its up to the courts to decide whos in the wrong. It's just you don't know the facts, and maybe I don't know them either, but at least i don't jump to conclusions.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2009All three nokia platforms are getting much interesting
n... moreIt shows how desperate Nokia is getting they shouldn't have tried to bully Apple by trying to force them to give them their technology and pay more than other manufacturers for licensing.
Next Apple will hit back with another lawsuit where Nokia has infringed their patents.
None of this will be proven until a court rules on it or if Nokia and Apple reach an agreement.
Meanwhile Nokia totally misread the market and has been caught out big time by the impact of Apple and RIM in the high end smartphone market, now Android is also coming in to further cut into the most profitable segment of Nokia's market share.
Wait until the next quarters figures iPhones should outsell all n-series and e-series added together, I'd say roughly 11 million iPhones will have sold.

Misleading info. S^1 is based on symbian 9.4 the same os built into the 5800. S^2 came to maturity november- december and some of its features have been backported to n97. S^3 will come to maturity july of next year and s^4 by the end of 2010.. Gsm arena please fix these errors.
