AnonD-246216, 13 Aug 2015What the heck is samsung thinking? Europe is not a small ma... moreyou're still getting the S6 edge plus, which trades the S pen for the front curve and it's the same phone otherwise. And actually, if you think for a moment, I think only business men actually used the S-pen a lot, and those people will have no problem importing it from the States. I think Samsung made the right call, releasing only the S6E+ will cause much less confusion and decisively push Samsung's entire S6 lineup down in prices.

What the heck is samsung thinking? Europe is not a small market by any means and by doing this they are just gonna get pushed out of the market there even more by other rivals.

I am sure Andy would welcome comments on the Note 5 launch or not launch if you in Europe. If enough complain then maybe it may have some effect on future launches. Back to Iphone for me.

AnonD-133890, 13 Aug 2015Well its no loss really since that phone seems to be a down... moreYeah its definitely no loss bro. I am a hardened SD card fan but would have considered the 128GB but 64GB seriously..
They must be trying the niche in the market the Apple style andriod. Wish them well after better for me notes.
Also err samsung pay ... dont think it'll catch on too much as only 3 devices will have it here and Apple always release there devices in europe.
Maybe europe is a worthless market, but call me crazy here
Samsung makes SD cards.. no sd card support
Samsung makes Samsung pay .. 3 device in Europe
That makes a hell of a business model.

well, I am very disappointed, I wanted this phone so much, I can buy one from Ebay later on from China.. but is not going to be the same, when a phone is not made for this particular market, it will always be looking for Asian carries because the antenna is made for their Mhz etc.. and that will shorten the battery life.

Hire better market strategy analyziers, please!
They may say Europe is in a resession.
Well that might be true. But please Samsung, have a look at the sales of iPhone 6s. You will clearly see that people still priorotizes getting high end phones.
But hurting your reputation in europe, the race might very well be lost for your part, when the economy turns.
Some say that America is an important market for high en mobiles. That is only partly true. Most of that market belongs to Apple, an "American" company. So in statistics, the US might look important, but most of that market can never be captured by an non american company as long as there is a major american company still in the race.
For a short period of time, around the Galaxy S4, the market was asking for larger screened devices, and Apple didnt supply.
At that point in time, had a company supplied a products, with the right ingredients, that could have been enough. the S4 wasnt bad, and it for a time made Samsung number one in the US, but not with enough margins to capture the market from Apple. People in america, felt the iPhone was a premium product. And no other big brand at the time had anything like that to offer. Perhaps there should have been 2 S4s, one "premium", and one cheaper option.
Samsung, please, you had your shot, in the US. It's over. You shouldnt stop putting products on the market in the US.
But you have no real shot of dominating over Apple in the premium segment.
This head start, isn't enough. Most will wate for apples move. And they will fall for it, even if your products are better, and offer more value.
By neglecting europe now, you will discover that Europe, will build a closer relation to Apple.
By the time you realize what has happend, it will be too late. The European high end market, will be behaving like the US.
You are having diffuculties in the Asian market.
You are about to completely loose the high end to Apple. And you are about to loose the mid end, to chineese makers.
You will be anohter company passed to the history as ones great. That didnt know how to play their cards.
I dont know what you need to do. My best bet is that you should split the brand in two. One part catering to the high end market. And anohter fighting with lower margins, catering to the lower and mid end of the market.
A company cant be premium and low end at the same time, not today.
Once, you got a high end samsung, cause you got more for less. Today you get slightly more in some areas, for the same money. Most people however prefer metal over glass, over leather, and of course plastic. They dont care that they might not get wireless charging. So perhaps there are two high end market to cater to, those that want premium feel, and those that want the most features.
Samsung still is a hi-tech comany. But perhaps a lot of people out there are looking for something more premium than tech... look at all the iPhone sales.
One thing to remember, is what Apple has done shouldn't be possible. To have their users feel like they own something premium, while still selling so much, and still be seen everywhere.
So Samsung, please don't think you can change the direction of the whole company. Trying to change Samsung in to a premium brand, will most likely make you a very small company. Cause, you wont be able to do an apple.
But perhaps creating a sub brand, catering to those looking for premium, could work. You do some nice laptops. Some nice TV's. Your high end mobiles has potential, but seem to be a bit techy rather than premium.
I personally would probably always choose the techy Samsung phone over a premium sub brand (when it comes to TVs and laptop, I might however go the other route). But considering Apple, I do think there is a large market that prefer premium feel over techy.

"Samsung seems to think that people in Europe are less in love with the S Pen stylus and the software features that differentiate the Galaxy Note5 from the Galaxy S6 edge+ than those in other parts of the world like the US and Asia." - Well, no! People in Europe are not that stupid, that Samsung can sell them a new phone, which is worse than a previous model, for more money!

Not a big deal, considering that Note5 is the biggest flop in last years. Unfortunately Samsung didn't listen to customers who just asked for SD slot, removable and bigger battery and more practical body materials. It wasn't too difficult to do it but sadly Samsung didn't.

This really sucks and I hope Samsung's marketing people are reading these comments (they do say they listen to customers!). There is a big difference between the Edge+ and Note 5, and I would never go for Edge+, because I simply want a phone with a pen to use for work purposes. Edge+ simply won't do it for me! Not sure how other Note series were selling in EU, but in any case they should have released Note 5 in EU for customers that need a phone with Note's features. Why would they force a customer buy an older version, when they have released a newer one - is beyond my logic, and I am sure there are many like-minded customers like me in EU, who are disgusted by Samsung's sloppy marketing move.

Samsung, can't know what they are doing!
Sure, they may have data, that says, only few units will be sold in europe. And sure, there are lots of contries here, that needs to translate touchwiz befor release.
But Samsung are so big these days, that their events are covered by newspapers and common news sites.
When people find out how long the wait from announcement to release is, it will hurt the brand.
Actually, I think only a few phones in history have had these long delays from announcement to release. And they were plagued by various issues. Sure, the delay was even longer, but at least they had reasons.
The geneal public does not care about micro SD slots, they dont care about capacoty of batteries, they dont care that the battery isnt removable.
But they do care when they cant get a hold of the phone they were planning to buy. And at least Apple could blame it on the popularity (in fact it was bad planning, or something that went wrong, but at least they could fool people in a way that they would feel even happier about their phone when they finally got it).
With Samsung, you wont even be able to order it for several of months.
Even if the update the components by the time it gets to europe (the newer CPU with integrated modem), it will still feel old.
It might not still be beaten performance vise, by any other mayor player, but that will then just be a matter of weeks.
And the S7, will then just be rigth around the corner.
Or do europeans want microSD and removable bateries so badly, that there is no point in releasing the Note 5 here?
Well, if you dont drop the price of the Note 4, even though the Note 5 isnt released, don't expect users to opt for the Note 4, they will be looking elsewere!

So apple, sony,lg,microsoft come sooner. Even samsung pay wont save this...
I would go for 128GB version, but really, whats the point of slimming battery and memory specs and getting bigger price for looks? I wanna see drop test...

I guess we'll see the Note5 with an SD820 sometime early next year then. Then the US and Asian market will be the ones moaning.
