Samsung Galaxy Note5 battery life test

24 August, 2015
Samsung surely raised a few eyebrows by equipping the Galaxy Note5 with a smaller battery than its predecessor. The newcomer’s 3,000mAh unit is also non-removable, so we were quite curious to put it through the rigors of our battery test.

All those features in Android are useless for work. They are good only for entertainment or for someone who go to camping or travel extensively to rural areas.

Also most developers on Android use a Nexus device. It's a developer phone kind of.

Apple and Nexus devices have features just in balance and don't unnecessarily put so many gimmicks and bells and whistles.

Don't know what you mean by laggy, cause only Note 1 had some staggering issues, next generations are real powerhouses. And it is an overall better device. Just hard to accept lacking removable battery and SD slot. Even if the removal of the SD slot kind of had a reason.
The IR blaster just makes zero sense to me though.

And you can blame 99% of every comment on every site basically from the whole internet....Even supposed professional and "smart" reviewers for all trash talking Samsung for "Cheap/ugly/flimsy" materials used in phones that we now have all glass and no removable battery. I get why they did it and it does look nice.....But I still prefer removable battery.
And I actually like the metal frame of the Note 4 better.

And this will be more apparent when the next iphones are released, because I seriously doubt Apple will put the same chipsets in them that they used inside the 6 and 6+, and when that happens, the Note5 will not be able to hold its ground compared to the latest iphones, hence making the Note5 become even more unworthy of the Note name and of the Samsung flagship status in just a month of its release. How funny would that be.

Note 2-4 runs perfectly fine. Note laggy at all. Some weird little bit of keyboard lag though not a lot crept into the Note 2 last year.
Note 1 became a bit laggy.

I went rather for the note 4. Not too worried about micro sd card slot but the battery size did make a difference to me expecially since its closed and cant be replaced. I also like having a IR blaster. The only thing that I like about the note 5 is the finger print sensor and maybe camera but theres not much difference between the note 5 and 4 in that regard. All round it does seem like a bit of a downgrade from the note 4 to the note 5.

Looks like samsung are trying to be too much like apple and forgetting what made them so famous. Hope they dont go the same route as nokia did and not listen to there customers.

battery life is useless if software updates are not on time or it never arrives. just look at the history on how samsung updates the note series and the time frame it takes for them to upgrade the latest version or security updates

Note series has a great potential, but Samsung wasted it for a new design. And the reason why we are whining? Because every Note was much better than the previous Note, Note 5 is not. Smaller battery, non-removal battery, more fragile design, no IR blaster, no Micro SD slot. These things make Note 5 a worse phone than Note 4.

Some people will also prefer the material and design of the note 5, compared to the note 4. Theres also new features and better camera software on the note 5. The specs doesn't matter because its still using the most powerful chipset available in the market. Samsung is smart enough to save money, and doesnt need to make the chipset more powerful just because of geeks and nerds that wants the best chip set, while the average person doesnt care.

So to you it might be a fail, but dont speak for everyone else because for myself, the thin metal design, better camera software aswell as improved S-Pen feature is enough to make me want it more than the note 4. The battery life could be better, but it still has one of the best battery life out there so I wouldnt complain too much.

Glass is not premium, because it will kill the "cool" design once dropped. I wish Samsung went with true lether instead.

Besides, imagine how awesome would be the battery life of this phone if there was 3500 mAh battery inside. It would wreck competition and would be worthy a name of superior flagship. But now... I still consider Note 4 a better phone overall.

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2015And still has better battery life than any of the flagships... moreA Note is always compared to the Note that came before it, not with other flagships, that is because the Note series have always been the best, greatest performing smartphones with no competition until their successor arrive, but that is not the case with the Note5. This is the first time a Note has worse battery life than its predecessor, and it's also the first time a Note has worse performance than the Galaxy S before it because it packs the same exact processors as the ones the S6 has been packing for six months now. This is also the first time a Note removed its main features in order to have sleeker design. So you see, with all its minor improvements and major setbacks, the Note5 is indeed Samsung's greatest fail of the decade.

Not too bad. Just like all other review said about it. BUT, still, its not like a Note performance! Galaxy S5 on lollipop scored 83h!! Please Samsung, don't kill Note series's hardcoreness!
