If you have Note 5 and find this as an issue for you:

Just file(or cut) the top of the clicking cap, from the both sides that may obstruct the mechanism of the phone(see some picture of the mechanism- PA have one)
Then you will have fully functional S-Pen and don't need to worry if you put it wrong. Not as "premium" look though.:)
Of course Samsung could fix this better way, but Note 5 is made for you iboys(they ignored us, for now). They fight now with Apple in the Apple's nest. That's why they put the "premium design" on the first place.
P.S.
And NO. It's not "design flow" , if it's no problem when you use the device properly.

Its common sense, you put it the same way you pull it, how is this an issue?
I dont understand people who complain it, seriously

They are trying to tell us is that use the pen only if you badly need it otherwise keep that thing were it is ,use your fingers as much as possible and if accidentally you do use that pen then don't bother putting it back just throw it in the bin

And or the same reason that the new Note 5 doesn't have the gap that Note 4 had, which btw was also in the manual last year, the pen issue won't be present in Note 6, just because there are not design reasons behind that, there are just screws.

Honestly, it wouldn't have been that hard to avoid, either, just make the sprung loaded bit a tiny bit larger than the rest of the pen and put a slight lip around the hole to prevent it from being put in it that way around.

It's not design flaw. It's in the manual, just like you should not use wrong voltage , or third part chargers.
Of course Samsung could avoid it very easy, don't even try to underestimate them. No OEM can compare with the Samsung engineers.
But making this "premium" version of Note 5 ESPECIALLY for hunting iboys in US, they decided not to compromise the "premium design" and "wow factor" because of the functionality.
                  Got it???

Perhaps adding a picture to the article that clearly shows how stupid you would need to be to put the pen in the wrong way would help diffuse this non story. Oh and I could put the S-pen into my note 4 the wrong way around, but I won't because I'm not an idiot.

Clearly the problem with smart phones are that stupid people can purchase them. If only everything could be made completely idiot proof.

Instead of telling its customers to RTFM, why not prevent all this mishandling in the first place? Clearly, if Samsung designed its stylus better, this issue wouldn't have happened at all.
