so you will not leave it on charge all night long.
Two hours is more than enough to charge this phone.
It helps you save on your energy bill as well.

the V40.0.005 firmware had some bug.
once the keypad is locked, try to charge your phone by plugging in the charger.
The screen will light up and it will NEVER turn off unless you unlock the keypad.
Same go to even u manually off the screen when charging. after complete charge. the screen will light up and stay light up....

BIG problem
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software update (v40.0.005)
After completing charging, the screen pop up message "Charged complete" and LCD backlight turn on.
The problem is after turn ON. It stay on. Bugs bugs bugs on V40.0.005

BIG Bug
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software update (v40.0.005)
To all Nokia 5800 users, do you all experience this problem. When I left the phone for charging, upon complete charging. The LCD backlight continues to turn on. I had confirmed with lot of my friend and all experience this problem.
This is a big problem as if one’s leave the phone to charge over night. The backlight will be on continuously and affect the life span of the backlight.
Nokia please rectify this bug, as it will affect all Nokia 5800 users. Thanks.

I find that Nokia is really retard to release a 5800 update but not for all region especially for the RM-428 that they just start selling last year. They should had release update for that first to get people to buy it. Now Im just sitting here waiting for an update before I had enough and sell it off and no more nokia for me.

V40 update works really well on ma Nokia 5800 XM.......but still i cudn't find the way to lock da 4n by shaking it......i don't thnk dat its true............newys all da odr improvments are awesome...........Nokia ROX.............btw....its better if they can enable N-GAGE for 5800 XM with the next update..........

i feel that its n... moreNokia has already milked the 5800 design for all it's worth with the multiple variations available. Again, the only thing we're talking about here is a feature added via software. As far as sales of the 5530 being affected or Nokia not developing any future versions of this phone, well that remains to be seen. Nokia will most likely keep some low & mid-range touchscreen devices. Not everyone can afford the X6. Personally I'd rather see them design something new instead of adding a new feature to either the 5530 or 5800 phones. Allowing yourself get 'frustrated' over a software update is pointless.
"i feel that its normal to feel fustrated. its indeed a wrong marketing move because i know some people who were ready to dump their 5800 and get a 5530 just because of kinetic scrolling and now that this update is available, they wont change phone and thus no additional sales will be made.
also each phone should have its own personality via the specs but nokia failed to understand that since the 3 variants are now the same, kinda like triplets"

Your phone has kinetic scrolling and now the 5800 has it too. It's no big deal. How does your phone suddenly 'look cheap' because of a software upgrade?

now my 5530 looks cheap.since i just got this one, i wont be buying a new one till next year and i assure you that the new one wont be a nokia phone.!!!!"

this raised my hopes for nokia. im sure some of the symbian new versions are coming to current symbian s60v5 but im not sure about the lastest version symbian v4 but 2 and 3 for sure. theyre betting a lot on x6

im from india..PLEASE NOTE that NOKIA CARE has received the V40 for 5800....and are updating the software within a few hours....i have confirmed with them that ALL MAJOR NOKIA CARE OUTLETS ACROSS INDIA have received the V40 update!!

u need to slide the BAR. Not Press.
U see the Arrow when incoming call or Alarm during Lock.
U no need to Unlock it, but need to SLIDE the bar.
This is preventing from Fault press.
