Geo, 19 Jan 2010All of the symbian haters here dont even own a android powe... moreAll I know is the almighty brand has been putting its S40/S60 O/S into its mid-low end phones...where some (if not a good majority) of the users only use the phones for simple calls/text/photos/music...which don't require the Symbian O/S.
I know some people bought the E-series just for the qwerty keypad, as I asked how Symbian works and they've absolutely no idea.
So just because people bought Symbian phones, that doesn't mean people actually use the O/S.

Ive used many nokia phones starting from the nokia 7610 and ive always bored of nokia homescreen. I had wised had nokia would upgrade their homescreen in the near future. Untile one day i dicided to give up and never give a nokia phone a second glance. Plus ive always feel rather sad for those suckers who always buy nokia phones, why buy a new one, when it ALMOST looks, feels and works the same the nokia 6600 from a years ago?

All of the symbian haters here dont even own a android powered,WinMO or Mac.Hoever says that nokia using other technology.u shud atleast research first before whining like a hungry monkeys,every phone manufacturers r copying or using what nokia have created.they r the standard in mobile technology.I agree with sum1 ho said that if north americans dont use symbian or nokia products it doesnt mean that the whole world is nt using it.Mind you.in every 6 out 10 in entire world population are using symbian powered cell phone.its very comfortable to use than any other OS.give me 10 reasons why i shud shift fr symbian to Android or Mac or winmo.sway me now.reasons/features that r lacking in Symbian OS..

I am thinking of buying the n900 or... morebest web browser on any phone i have ever used.. you actually get the real web not a dumb down version without having to install a 3rd party wed browser like skyfire. you just need to remember this is really an internet tablet 1st a phone 2nd. and the amount of apps that can run simultaniously with out you slowing the phone down is crazy.. i am listening to music, down loadind a torrent, and typing this reply all at the sametime. and belive me it can do more.

I don't know why you get so workedup for eye candy, it s not like its going to improve usability or create new features. Tbh, I disabled theme effects on my 5530? Reason: I prefer the phone to be faster and more responsive than to have transitions on the phone. And all my friends like the ui. (despite it not being like iPhone) and not a single one told me they found the ui unusable. With that said, I think nokia is failing in the high end, because only N900 is worth it, the rest aren't so good really. N97 is just a 5530/5800 with a camera, and 32GB. So n900 is their only hope. Motorola on the other hand are erealeasing so many phones which are so alike, and are too expensive, why don't they focus on the lower segment too? Not like every student can afford a MILESTONE. A phone which costs like a low end laptop is way too expensive.

Relax... some of the updates ARE going to come to our current s60v5. For sure, they would hnot have released x6 if they were planning on making it obsolete so quickly.
besides if they are gonna update their os so often, I don't think they're gonna release an n98, n99 and n100 by the time symbian^4 comes out

Well, i suppose it's gonna be a tough decision for Nokia to simply join the Android band-wagon. Most Nokia users are well accustomed to their Symbian OS (s40 or s60). Besides, they've already hooked up with Linux so I guess that's enough for the moment. Android is an OS that is yet to prove it self. i don't know Android well enough to hate it or love it, but based on the usual specs of a phone running on android, i particularly don't like its color support which is similar to WinMo which is up to 65k only. Specially if you're trying to view high quality image. Though it may offer high resolution display, it still no match for nokia's 16m color display. Anyway, everything has its pros and cons. It's just a matter of user preference and what's gonna make you happy is all that counts..
