Nokia done one of the best moves, this will be the best way to attract new customers and to keep all the loyal old customers.
what do you need more guys from one device.
Calls, SMS, MMS, Email, camera and now free Navigation.
This is what you get now from nokia ,

For ex. Nokia E72 is the best choice these days, don't worry you got 250mb storage for your emails using nokia messaging , that will be now almost enough.

I've installed it yesterday and for god sake - garmin is not neeeded any more!:)
Thanks guys from nokia. I think it's a wonderfull present for those who use gps navigation on a phone.

P.S. Yesterday, I read on mobile-review.com that firstly free guided navigation would be accessable only for N97. But the fact is that it is so for 5800 too.

P.S.S Fo those who will have problems.
Maybe you should install it via ovi store.
At first I tried to upgrade Maps with "software update" on the phone, but at the end of instalation it wrote me some kind of a mistake and still asking me money for navigation.
I undeleted "Nokia maps" and "OVI Maps" in "Programms manager" and then downloaded aplication from Ovi Store and installed it succesfully.

in romania, the country of all posibilities,i can install with ten euros from "newspaper boys" any gps software i like, with all the maps and with infinite lifetime of license. you canput on windows or symbian mobiles any broken gps soft you want. the best for symbian is sygic drive for example. hail to the hackers, the newspaper is full of their advertising: gps software, unlock any type of mobile even iphone 3gs or htc hd2. it's cool to live in bucharest

It is a success, nokia have done something really smart and to keep their customers and attract others

hope they focus on other weak areas like mail support, user interface, stable symbian and maemo

It's about freagin time Nokia did something worthwhile for its loyal customers. The pay navigation was ridiculous in the first place. Just updated my 5800 and it works like a dandy. By the way, FW 40 is said to be out but where is it? I tried to update but not yet available on Nokia server.

Been a while since I heard a company use the word "free" lol last couple of "free" words i read actually required me paying for it to become free haha.

Didn't try it yet. Nevertheless, seems like a good move to reclaim some customers, and interest potential ones.
