21 January, 2010
Nope, there's no mistake in that title up there. Today, in a swift game-changing maneuver, Nokia announced that all their smartphones get lifetime voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation through Ovi Maps for free...

so either way if people download and or buy the TomTom software on iphone or any other device that supports it or gps is giving back to nokia lol so they don't have to worry so much

For me people using touchscreen with stylus is so oldies, resistive is better use for drawing and handwriting recognition but that's all, hell i can do that stuff even better than any resistive screen in my 3Gs.

Now let's wait for the next move from nokia,i'd still prefer android than symbian, cause symbian is a failure and complete garbage in touchscreen Os,be it's by nokia or samsung.

Like i said,my salute is for nokia, never for symbian so i'll be waiting your next move nokia.

It's a great move for Nokia since the S60 (5th) system is really complicated (signing software, non-user-friendly UI...), and this free GPS navigation would be a 'compensation' for it.

This 'policy' will benefit Nokia for a while, but not that long.
                  Don't forget the iPhone, Android...
                  Nokia, wake up!

Although N86 8MP is not listed as a compatible phone for Ovi Maps 3.3, I downloaded the map and voice update (via Nokia Map Loader). I've now got navigation for free. (I'm currently using Ovi Maps 3.01).

Does this update apply on N900?
I downloaded this 3.3 on my 5800xm, it installed just fine. But when started to use the new ovi maps, my phone just crashed down. Second try the Display went black and nothing worked... Not even button sounds. I had to remove the battery.
Third attempt. Result black screen, 15-20 sec. Later homescreen pops up. Maps was shut down.
                                  Good nokia...
And where is the new update for the phone it self? Huh. I live in Finland and it seems that we get ewerything last.
