I gave up on Motorola after buying two generations of Motos. It's either one of the Nexus phones now, or even an iPhone. I don't like broken promises.

AnonD-301306, 02 Oct 2015It's quite unacceptable that the 2nd gen Moto E doesn't get... moreI think you meant to write "G" in there somewhere. I agree though, the device isn't even a year old yet it's not getting any updates. One of the reasons I've got my parents a Motorola device was because they were updating their phones rather well, and now this.

AnonD-365724, 02 Oct 2015Won't be updating the phone if the moto features are gone..... moreMost of them have substitutes in the app store or in marshmallow. I may be wrong but it may be possible to just install the apk of moto assist if you can download it from somewhere on the internet.

Now i realize i shouldn't have bought my 3 months old moto e LTE since it never got any update ( it's still stuck in 5.0.2 because it is XT 1524). Lenovo will destroy the motorola everybody loved. There is always cyanogenmod alternative.

I'm bit confused. "Moto G 4G (2nd gen)" but the link leads to first 4G from summer 2014. Which I have.

That's one thing great about Motorola, even before arrival of Marshmallow they have declared for updates unlike other android phone manufacturers.

As expected only the fairly new devices will get it.. Since Google sold Motorola to Lenovo i'm assuming that's why they're not releasing 6.0 to older gen Moto devices.

It's quite unacceptable that the 2nd gen Moto E doesn't get the update, considering it's super new and has similar hardware to the 2nd gen Moto E.
