So this is going to faceoff against A10. I think Qualcomm is shaking in its boots. Apple and Samsung are making far superior SoC than Qualcomm.

If we already have benchmarks why would Samsung start the production in 12 months? The chip is clearly already ready it only needs minor tweaks, why would Samsung wait a full year? It doesn't make sense.

(YES! no more two cores. it's SIX!) and from what I've understood. apple are constantly raising clock speed as well... so a HEXA AT 2 GHz (if not more) with high IPC and clock would blast over 100k points in AnTuTu!
(I'm a huge fan of Android by the way. and a power seeker. Owning a SD808 powered phone)
the REASON why apple is tripling it's core amount. is because apple became multitask serious. and not due to lag.

The use of the number of threads and cores a CPU uses is dependent on HOW the programmers created the runtime code for the app, and still in at least 90% of cases apps are single-threaded and use 1 main core. They can use the other cores but only as support. Think of it as the main core being 80-100% utilized while the other cores only at around 10-20%.
Unless a new discovery for efficient multi-threading comes about, single-core performance is still among the most important assets a CPU needs. This is speaking from a computer science and programming perspective.
If you still doubt it, ask yourself, Which processor will you buy for your PC? Intel or AMD? Pretty sure the majority of people will pick Intel. In the mobile area, ARM is AMD and Apple is Intel. Simple as that.

Are... moreAndroid has a good support for multicore CPU deep in its code, every app that doesn't tell the CPU to only use one core (like benchmark apps that tests single core performance) automatically uses all cores just like the CPU drivers allows them. So if an android app can use all 8 cores depends on if the CPU is a true octacore solution or a double quadcore solution. The single core test is all in all just not relevant for daily use
