10 February, 2010
The high-tech industry analyzers from Canalys have published a very interesting report about the touchscreen and smartphone markets in 2009. Apparently last year was the first time...

http://www.glbenchmark.com/result.jsp

Look at number one.

Hey why don't you come back when the Nexus sells 20 million.

That's where the real "battle" is won.

The Nexus is a toy designed to sell Google advertising, "look at the pretty beads and baubles we give you in exchange for your personal information which we can pass on to our advertisers who are paying for all of this" is the hidden message behind Android.

Lap it up fanboy..

Besides who cares about cheap Symbian phone's where Nokia pulls out most of the features and sells really cheap, locked and loaded with network software and sold on PAYG, Nokia can have that market, there's not much money in it.

TWENTY FIVE MILLION, a thousand times that one manager times a thousand times twenty five.

Hey you can load up your Nexus with Fart applications, last time I looked on a Magic there were twenty eight of them, watch out for the crap free applications which are nothing more than a way to link you to a paid application, unless you are in the US forget the free voice navigation, it was cracked in Europe but Google pushed out an update which locked it down again.

Imagine the outcry if Apple pushed out an OS update which stopped jailbroken from working, it's a good thing you have to plug an iPhone in so YOU CAN CHOOSE when to update.

The only good thing about Android is it stops Microsoft and Nokia geeks dead in their tracks, leaving the majority of normal people to buy iPhones.

the smartphone war continues.↲People who have not use an s60 or a win mo or a mac os need to shut the hel up.↲I have used 3 all three os's. I find that each os is unique, has different capabilities, and lots of apps. I prefer the nokia s60 smartphones because of the ALL-AROUND functionality and performance. Also, it has more freedom. Therefore, it is matter of a preference!

Why am I not surprised. I have 4 people that have Iphones in which are changing it to the Nexus one after they saw one live and had a chance to use it.

As for my girl friend on Feb. 14th? She wanted Iphone for a long time until she saw my Nexus one, now she wants one too. Few of her friends have the Iphone, one of which is also changing it to Nexus one and now she can't wait for hers. She also thinks it's more elegant and better looking and feels better in hand than the Iphone.

But I'm sure your one whole female manager makes more sense than 4 people that I know plus my girl friends that want the Nexus one after having had the Iphone or seen one.

Hey, stop all the hate between Nokia vs. Apple vs. Google, let´s party together to watch M$ losing its share !

                  WIN! WIN ! WIN ! ! ! ! ! :D

I dont like Google´s monopoly(they really abuse destroying people´s business model with offering everything free thanks to their online ads monopoly).

                  I dont like Apple´s monopoly(my cellphone, IS MINE ! ! ! ! And i will use it as i want to ! ! ! !)

I sort of hate the Nokia´s monopoly(it only woke up when Apple showed its iPhone OS, now Symbian is in 4th place as the better UI behind iPhone, webOS, Android)

I really, really, really hate M$ monopoly, it can only buys the share it has (Xbox v. 1.0) and it can only create stinky software(no need to mention them, so many, i would be fired of the internet for overloading it).

To be honest, i dont like Google´s monopoly that much, but i rather support it and watch WinMo in 4th place than watching Android in the 4th place.

Hopefully this year the Android plataform will skyrocket.

PS: I dont own any of those brands, i have a Blackberry which is usefull for my mobile needs.

giggig, 11 Feb 2010by the way what you are trying to say lol. May be you mean... moreno I don't worry about if the almighty brand will ever surpass sales of iphone, or Android phones combined...bcoz this brand has been known to heavily subsidize network service providers to "promote" its handsets.

The truth is, unless the almighty brand stop making bricks, otherwise it certainly can never catchup with one (huge) segment with great spending power....the ladies market.

I have NOT seen any lady using N97, N900, or N97 mini, being within the same price range as iphone.

Never doubt about craps like 5800...which was so cheap from day 1, may have some sales, but still no match with the iphone segment.

I admit I hate the almighty brand with super subjective opionions, and I'll rather not use a mobile phone should the almighty brand be the only brand available in this world for mobile phone, bcoz chances are if such a day comes in my life, mobile phones would be so out already.

couple of the reasons I HATE the almighty brand:
                    - it refuses to join the standards used by most other phone makers by placing the + key at * instead of 0
                    - it refused to release any touchscreen (3G) phone before iphone, but AFTER the success of iphone, it became the follower...
                    - it CLAIMED to have a phone for everyone...but it took YEARS to develop its first flip phone...the 7200, which somehow, being a mid-end phone at the time, only supported dual band
                    - it copied Moto V3 with its N76, with fallen paint job and unstable O/S and became a flop
                    - it purposely missed out something already offered by others. E.g. when 8890 (only support GSM900/1900, no 1800) was released, others were already making tri-band phones. Its 3650 was able to capture video with NO SOUND! (why would anyone want to capture video with no sound?) When NEC/Moto were offering video call on their first 3G phones, the 6630 supported video call thru a separate cradle!
                    - it sells at least 4 times more phones than Moto where I live, but the waiting time for service is also 4 times LONGER!
                    - it claimed to standardize its charger plug with the rest of the world by using micro-USB, yet its NEW phones in 2010 like X3/X6/5230 still do NOT support charging via USB with the micro-USB slot

For your record, no, I do not use iphone. My ex-boss does, my manager does, my wife does.

Also, with Android Nexus one you get the option of having the 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM and the expandable sd card to 32 MB. Something that Apple platform doesn't offer.

Please someone tell me how can you have one device that is faster by 40% in all application with 1GH cpu, better camera 5 mega pixel with FLASH, Free navigation with voice directions, practically similar in pinch zoom feature, voice recognition in text, email and web searching somehow is inferior to a device that is slower, doesn't have flash for camera, isn't a complete multi tasking device, can't do voice in text and email, doesn't give you the free option of changing the battery or your internal sd drive but is better because it has more useless apps?

You buy iphone out of a box and you are limited to it's capability with no flash for camera, no upgrade for sd card, no battery to be replaced. You also spoke about virtual reality software that Google wants to to sell you . Isn't that the same with apple and their so called 140,000 apps for you to buy?

Apple was and is the king of apps selling, more than Android and Google may I and however it's funny that you use that same excuse for your argument. I dislike Apple and it's so called innovations, and it's media hype that has helped turn some mediocre technology into a major brand. I have a Nokia N86 and chose it for the great camera and OMLED screen and expected the ovi store to really shine late last year, but a combination of an old OS and lack of apps made me try out the iphone.

I was thoroughly amazed at the user friendliness of this phone, and not since the N95 have a had the same amount of enjoyment out of a device like this. It has to be experienced with an open mind, and without blind hate.
Yes, I slammed the iphone for it's unremarkable tech, but that was BEFORE I owned one.
It's time the hate ended on these forums from dumb people who have never spent a few days with the iphone, or likely never even touched one.
Check the reviews. Everyone likes the iphone apart from you.
