David, 23 Feb 2010So, how many iPods does RIM sell? How many workstations, la... moreDude, what the hell has iPods, laptops and apps to to with this? If that's the case than Apple would be fart in the pants compared companies like Samsung, LG, Sony who has flatscreens, mp3players, dvdplayers, movies systems, laptops etc etc.
"iPhone is the world's most popular smartphone".. serioulsy man, this is scary, how do you comprehend something like that? I'm kinda worried for your mental health. How does 8,2% of the smartphone market make iPhone the worlds most popular smartphone?
For example iPhone sold 25 million units last year and Nokia E-series sold 141 million units last year. While the Iphone 3G was out and trying to "compete" with the Nokia E71 last year, the E71 still took home all the smartphone awards and i front Apple.
Unless you never finished preschool, which is the only logical reason why your math is so horrible, ask someone who can explain it to you that 8,2% of the smartphone market does not make you the most popular smartphone, and that is putting all the iPhone generations together, E-series still kicks their ass, and so does Blackberry i just found out.
1)Editors' Choice, Readers' Choice CNET
2)Phone of the Year Mobile Choice Awards
3)Best Smartphone at the 2008 Mobile Choice Awards
4)WIRED Magazine's 2008 Best of Test
And you know what, it cost half the price of iPhone 3G at the time and gave you twice the phone and 5 times the reviews and awards.
Could you imagine if Nokia made E-series smartphone that would cost €800, they would make it fly you to the moon.
Now be good iApple and go suck on a lollipop.
I'm out til the next article on GGSMarena.. good night..

David, 23 Feb 2010LOL! RIM outsold Apple..
Blackberry 34 million units so... moreSo, how many iPods does RIM sell? How many workstations, laptops, subnotebooks, displays? How much software, music, movies?
It is fortunate that RIM ALTOGETHER sells more cell phones than Mac with currently TWO models on offer. Still, the iPhone is the world's most popular smartphone, not the Curve or the Bold. Just check the statistics.
Currently, I don't need an iPhone. But credit is due where it's due.

spk307, 23 Feb 2010Nokia's days are counted. From 70%, their market share has ... moreNice crystal ball you have there.
Once again, GSM arena's comments section is full of Bile and Stupidity.
Nokia have every right to be up there, and still have not released a 12pm camera phone yet, nor a HD video phone. It's coming folks.
And as for RIM "beating" Apple. That's just a HILARIOUS comparison. Bearing in mind the market that Blackberry's are aimed at, they should be selling more than Apple. Bulk business buys anyone? And the Nokia E72 still beats any Rim business phone ^^
If you want to compare Rim and Apple, look at the increase in profits. 48% for the company that has many models of phone for work, vs single device. (calculates)

Also dont forget that more than half of Nokia's sales are in Asian countries where Nokia sells mobiles from $40! Apple needs to sell just one iphone to get the same profits Nokia gets from 20 handsets!

Nokia's days are counted. From 70%, their market share has come down to 40%. In 2 years, Samsung and LG will overtake Nokia. Their N series have lost the aura and the Symbian touchscreens are a joke. I cant imagine a year when Nokia will be profitable again.

ramin, 23 Feb 2010i have 2 question from you(nokia die hard fan)
what is exc... more-Complete customization (Dont even say Android is that customizable because it really isnt)
-I dont have to root my phone to have full access
-Multitasking is far better on Maemo
-I dont get any hangs or lags with my N900 but I do get some on my Droid not a whole lot though so its not too bad there
I suppose
-Maemo integrates social networks and IM's and VoIP's alot better than Android does
-Both have pretty good games but im not too much into gaming on a phone just yet
Im not a "Die hard Nokia fan" as you put it but I do like to have the best phone that does everything I want it for and Nokia just happens to fill that need right now. N900 is the first Nokia I've ever owned. I've always used HTC until now. Anyways those are just some of my reasons and my opinions on it. I could go on but I'll leave it at that for now.

LOL! RIM outsold Apple..
Blackberry 34 million units sold in 2009 took a huge toilet crap on Iphones 25 million.. hahaha...
Nokia sold 440 miilion units in 1 year (168 million N-series and 141 million E-series).. Apple sold 43 miilion units in 3 years..
I still can't believe Blackberry totally pushed Iphone to the ground like a bully and beat it to death with stick.. RIM rocks!

Hey, this is not a football/soccer forum.
The numbers are clear: Nokia, RIM, Apple, and the Android platform are all doing well.
I think Windows phone looks very promising, and so do Symbian 3, 4, and MeeGo. I also expect iPhone 4G to make a big statement.
This means more choices, more possibilities, and less time to talk rubbish.

DASH, 23 Feb 2010Nokia only have these figures as they have a huge range of ... moreTo DASH:
Nokia have budget phones just like any other manufacturer but don't say the budget handsets are the reason why Nokia is on top.
We all know that Nokia have acquired Symbian and for the most part the average Symbian phone on the market is a Nokia phone. If you take note, Symbian is number one in the smartphone market, which Nokia accounts for, for the most part.
You can hardly say they are any budget Symbian phones out there because as a source said, the starting price for Nokia Symbian phones is 240 Euro. Budget phones are less than 100 Euro.

This text:
"When it comes to smartphone platforms, the open-source Android has the biggest market share growth shipping on nearly 6.8 million devices in 2009. That's more than 10 times better than the 0.6 million in 2008. Another year like that and they might just take the second spot (or even first if Symbian doesn't up its game urgently)."
Can only be seen as a totally stupid comment... With the same kind of stupid logic, you could say that WebOS had INFINITE growth and thus expect that it would take over everything tomorrow... pure nonsense...
