Anonymous, 07 Dec 20151. Why is such a big resolution needed for such a small dis... moreSuch resolution is certainly not needed at all, but Microsoft finally decided to step in the same game as Samsung, Sony and other brands already did, so no users would complain that Microsoft is always few steps behind the competition in terms of hardware.
I personally would have prefered 5" Full HD screen. It would have been more than enough regarding pixels density and for sure would have been mile better for battery life.

Your Lumia 640XL's battery lasts long enough because of Win 8.1 M update 2.
If you upgrade your Lumia 640XL to Win 10 M build 10586.29, it will last significantly less, like 20-30% less )))

      1. Why is such a big resolution needed for such a small display? That is deifinitively power consumer.
      2. I am ok with cpus, those are needed games, etc.
      3. Wp10 still not optimized for battery.

If you want a long lasting, reliable phone, buy lumia 640 or xl. I am using it intensively and I can use it 2 days without charging...

vrvly, 06 Dec 2015I don't know with what kind of update was this test of XL b... moreOS build used for battery test on Lumia 950 and XL was 10586.0 - the very first one!

Hope that GSMArena will retest with build 10586.29 or the one that will come befor Christmas, because there were 2 builds between 10586.0 and 10586.29 - the 10586.11 and 10586.17.

So no need to wait few months for optimizations, they will come even sooner than this )

Considering that the O/S is not optimized yet I'm actually very happy with the battery performance from the XL. I honestly thought it would be worse, knowing that it runs a more powerful chipset and bigger screen. Looking forward to an updated test after some software updates.

W10M is still new and buggy. lets next few updates fix them. after that they may have good battery endurance. just wait and proud if you have one :)

Everybody who already upgraded from Win 8.1 M to Win 10 M can tell you that battery life got worth more than by 30% with builds prior to 10586.0/11, like 10581, 10572, 105249 or 10536 and went slightly better with build 10586.0/11 but still fare from what it was under Win 8.1 M.
So this is a software problem and Microsoft is working on it by improving battery life build after build, like Apple did with iOS 9 and Android with Lollipop 5.1.1.

2 days ago anew build (10586.29) was released with several improvements and will be available for Lumia 950 (XL) in coming days.

And there will be at least one more build released before Christmas.

And nobody sad that the build installed on Lumia 950 (XL) when they went for sale was the final one.

So don't make your judjment to early, based on an unfinish and unstable OS version.

Nokia Finland still has the Nokia ownership and they are on standby up until 3rd quarter of 2016 where they will release the first Nokia Finland powered by Android.

Lumias are Microsoft however Nokia China will still continue selling Lumias under Nokia name but if you people see a Nokia with Android OS, it means it is from Finland. :)

                    Dear Team GSM Arena,

Strangely in all the graphs, the phones are mentioned as Nokia Lumia 950 & Nokia Lumia 950 XL.

However you all are aware that these phones are Microsoft's phones Not Nokia.

I really appreciate your emotional connect with Nokia, I am also a huge fan & admirer of NOKIA.

Hope very soon we see NOKIA Phones back in Action....

Will i got some questions to ask cause i wonder about the standby time which is questionable so:
                                1. Was glance screen turned on and off it was off how long is the standby time with glance.
                                2. Was wake up(double tap) turned on.
                                3. How much the battery life will improve if battery saver be on(it could be an separate review cause its questionable on all phones)
                                4. Could the talk time of phones be different on different bands?

The battery life of the 950 was so bad that the above average 950XL looked impressive.

You might add that the Lumias have replaceable batteries. Much preferable to bulkier addon supplemental battery packs. With one in your bag, no worries.

I wonder if MSFT reads this blogs or not! Don't know what drove MSFT to make Lumia 950. Why 2 bigger devices at the same time!!! Why 1440p display with QS 808!! why not a 5" 1080p display device beside a Bigger 5.7"??? there are so many whys.... and why not the capacitive controls??? Apple and Samsung flagships still have them. why why why...???
