23 March, 2010
Opera Mini for iPhone was first demoed at this year's MWC and now it's only a step away from its launch. The application is obviously ready and has just been submitted to the Apple AppStore. Once it's...

Throw you Iphone in dust bin and buy a Android phone, we will find a new fresh air of freedom in Android...
Android= freedom + choice of phones
Iphone= Restriction + stick with crappy Iphone who has 5 years old feature except UI and app support.

Yeah, definetly Cydia. Apple will not approve this. They'll first pseudo-improve safari before approving this.

You know it won't be approved! It doesn't use the specific design specified by Apple. I hope it does though...

Apple won't approve this. It's direct competition for their own browser. It will be dismissed on that to similar rule.

Even at SEE last year, Opera had a stand and I compared it on the HTC Hero they had there to Dolphin on my HTC Hero and Opera barely took at least 4x as long to load it. Both on the same wi-fi network.

While it looks fast on this iPhone, how quick is it going to be on the 2G and 3G?

Apple will not only reject Opera Mini but it will sue Opera also. Recently they are suing everyone. Probably it has something to do with Steve Jobs medications.

Dude this may be hot, but this is Apple we are talking about. Apple is not going to approve this app and EVERYBODY knows it. You better send it to Cydia cause thats the only place its going to show up. Apple doesn't approve apps that mimic any of its native apps (i.e. Google Voice). Plus, Safari is the most legit and revolutionary web browser on the market. Speed may be hot for those who are on the EDGE network, but Opera Mini isn't needed. Just look at the downloads on the Android platform. On Android 2.0 and up, Opera is not needed. And on the iPhone it isn't either.

In my experience, Opera Mini has incinerated every other mobile browser I've used in terms of speed and usability on the same handset, and that includes the S60 native browser, Netfront, BOLT, TeaShark, Mobile/Pocket Internet Explorer, the Android browser, and others. Safari is good, but Opera Mini will beat it any day of the week, as this video proves.
