The sneak peak event on iPhone OS 4.0 is now over. Steve Jobs was on stage and he promised tons of new stuff for the next-gen iPhone OS. There's multi-tasking, app folders, social gaming plus...

It’s not true multi-tasking. If apps freeze whilst another apps in use than that's not considered true multi-tasking. True multi-tasking is when several apps run simultaneously. Sorry iPhone fans, but you're getting ripped :$

While the improvements are all welcome, I think apple need to apply fundamental changes to the way the stale OS works (UI).

Apple need to introduce widgets, and social network integration (on the springboard). Also simply adding support for wallpapers seems a little underwhelming and consumers should be able to customize other areas of the UI (Dock etc).

As an iphone user I find it frustrating that apple refuse to adopt some of the innovations that google, HTC and jail breaking offer.

It seems that apple simply 'Jazz up' simple improvements so that we feel privileged to finally receive functionality that other manufacturers have been providing for years (3.2MP camera, Video recording, MMS, Wallpapers, multi tasking etc)

The iphone is great and was a revolution when it was released however it can be so much more. Why do Apple insist on deliberately holding back there products functionality for months / years at the expense of their loyal following? Apple's income from app store, handset sales alone suggests that they could reward consumers with an OS that truly does take advantage of the hardwares capabilities (especially considering the handset price and costly tariffs.)

Surely Apple should recognize that consumers who are investing heavily in a product, deserve the right to take full advantage of their hardware.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2010Honestly most of these new features have been in cydia for ... moreYes, some of these features were in Cydia for a long time.

But to all those who don't want to jailbreak your devices (me for exemple) this new OS (4.0) is really awesome.

I've jailbreaked my 3GS once, and don't think it worth...
It overheated, and drains the battery even faster.
So I restored my device, removing the jailbreaking.

But with this new OS, man... AWESOME!

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2010Man have you ever tried a symbian, perhaps it was broken or... moreI have used symbian from nokia 6600,7610,n73,e90,n95,e71 and 5800,and in my honest opinion and you can see i'm an experienced symbian user and these devices are generally great with few acceptable bugs which were fixed with few firmware updates,But the nokia 5800 has many faults its ui is very inconsistent sometimes i dont know when to double tap or to single tap in menus, with its new firmware i know they have added kinetic scrolling but its motion is very poor in the web browser, also the phone must hang or restart atleast twice a day and its touch screen isn't as responsive as the iphone's screen and under sunlight i doubt if u can see anything. Nokia 5800 is a multimedia device but you can never have half the fun i'm having with my iphone

Honestly most of these new features have been in cydia for the longest time. These features are laughable except the whole game networking deal, that's nice. I guess these new features are for the people who don't jailbreak their iPhones. Well I'll wait and see what the new iPhone comes out with this summer in terms of better hardware specs and maybe better software. If the new iPhone isn't good, I'm going back to htc again.

True, the iphone with a good data plan is excellent. But I'm sure that there are other phones that come with this deal surely?

Mine's "unlimited" so I can surf when i'm not using wifi, and although the browser is very good, Opera would be an added bonus.
