I bet loyal fans will buy it even if there is no sd slot, no earphonejack, no radio, & no customizability. Next, there will be no flash, no front camera, no home button, no cloud storage, no battery(maybe, you never know) and lesser and lesser. Pure innovation to get you to buy any additional Apple product that always goes by the name "Smart Apple (something)". Everything is sold separately.

Calling people idiot is really bad

But one thing : newer is not better

3.5 mm jack may be old, but the sound IS better .

Bluetooth audio is more practical / easy to use ( minus the need to refuel the battery ), but the sound is not as good as wired 3.5 .

Real Good quality bluetooh headphones also have 3.5 mm jack .
So phone should have both, so people can have the right to CHOOSE .

That is the least you could do, when you are a phone with a 800+ €/$ Tag price

I think its safe to assume the that the Galaxy S8 will not have a 3.5mm jack in 2017.

Copy cat Apple. Now they are trying to copy Oppo R5. Innovation slowly fading in Infinity Loop.

i think the headphone jack and lightning port will be mixed as one port

GuestPH, 05 Jan 2016Not just because they want for the 3.5mm headphone jack to ... moreWhat would be truly innovative: if the headphones and / or their adaptors could receive bluetooth frequencies without needing a power source. So in effect like NFC terminals activate a powerless NFC chip, if bluetooth headphones could receive sound waves and convert them into sound.

I'd never buy regular bluetooth headsets or adaptors that require charging.

AnonD-362866, 05 Jan 2016Adapt or Die. Survival of the fittest. The natural progress... moreI'm curious to see how killing a standard (and pretty small and sturdy connector) is progression. Adapt to what? Thinner phones which are harder to hold and have lower battery capacity? Get used to annoyances that make no sense?
Using Bluetooth headsets works OK with the headphone jack there, I do it. I swap between my studio monitors and BT headset all the time. Forcing the consumer to have another (more expensive) device he has to buy and charge separately is not wise. Carrying adapters is "evolving"?? We did this last decade. Such evolution. I remember the adapter I made for my Z530i to accept normal headphones because the normal cord adapter was annoying (keyword here), such evolution. From 2007 to 2016.

When you say about floppy drives and such, have you realized that they have been actually technologically surpassed, unlike a headphone jack? It will just mean forcing a more expensive product on you. In fact the phone can handle having a better DAC inside itself than the adapter, so it would possibly lower the quality. Such evolution, 2007 creeps in again.

How about, let's wait and see?

I don't like the sound of it, but then again, Apple are a MAJOR music retailer - iPhones are overtaking iPods of all generations, so I'm sure they have given this some thought on how to NOT lose their loyal music fanbase.

Not just because they want for the 3.5mm headphone jack to be removed, doesn't mean they are a backward company. I am not aiming for a world with more headphones that use the lightning port instead, I now want manufacturers to push for bluetooth headsets / headphones. Which makes really good sense nowadays, considering that most households who have techy inhabitants have bluetooth enabled speakers.

Their movement makes sense. It's just that people are always hating on what Apple does only to see their much loved Android making mobile phone manufacturers follow the same route.

                              so innovative......

Not many are comfortable with these concepts it seems lmao you can spot these people by the floppy disks, usb's and cd's they carry around :'D The same people who cried a river when they realized some droids would be dropping SD cards hehe
