some apps are ok, but the small internal memory(without resorting to 3rd party hacking) of most android handsets is the only bummer

A lot of the games and entertainment apps are too simplistic in looks and content. this is cos android apps have to be smaller since they arestored on the handset and not the phone
they need to bring out a softeare update to change this. having said that, google goggles and shop savvy have been very useful
anyone else got any good recommendations?

most of the free applications are rubbish with google ads. I would never advertise in google for that reason. you have to pay for a fool to click on it.

25% of 200000 is still larger than 60% of 50000. Percentages are useless figures without a base :-p

How many apps do people need, don't you have work to do or study or whatever your occupation is? I am moderately interested in smartphones and I don't have more than 40 apps/games in total, that including N-Gage.
Pushing thousands of meaningless apps as a reason to buy a phone is not good enough to me, I'd rather have a good phone with as much preloaded basic stuff as possible so I wouldn't have to look for it and maybe have to purchase it.

Free or Ad supported?
There are also all the spam applications that are free but do nothing more than send you to a link to a paid version.
There are plenty of fart and torch applications.
25% of iPhone Apps being free is more than all the Android applications put together.
The Android market is full of junk, anyone who's gone there knows this.
The games are like Java games no high level graphics.
The Dutch banking application was pretty good.

hm, I'm starting more and more thinking about switching from iPhone to some Android phone. One of the main reasons for me still owning and iPhone is Apple appstore, but now if the new iPhone 4G won't have at least 5MP camera and a flash I'm switching to Samsung or HTC with Android.
C'est la vie:)

Why do people get so excited with figures? I want QUALITY not figures. I don't care if this or that apps store has more apps, if most of them are crap and are made just to increase the app count of the OS. Start using your brains instead of getting excited with every marketing gimmick that manufacturers throw at you.
Mind you, Android are not the only ones who do this. Apple is even worse. They know what consumers want to hear and that they reach for their wallets quicker than they reach for their brain.
