i'm not an expert in flashing phone roms. but i also don't judge so easily. find out why they (xiaomi) lock the bootloader on their new models. it's because they want their user bought a cheap phone with the security of an apple phone. what good can mi cloud do if someone who stole your phone can easily flash a custom rom one way or another and use it? when i bought mine i also pissed that i can't get to recovery mode to flash a custom rom. but after a lot of reading i found out how to do it. and now rn3pro is my daily phone with a custom rom.

stupid mi phone, 11 Sep 2016In august .. i have my first xiaomi phone ... mi max 128 gb... moreHey man just do some research before posting. The reason for the locked bootloader is for safety so if your device gets stolen no one would be able to format and use it. And if you think that not everyone is expert at flashing then why they will flash custom roms. Its very simple to unlock the bootloader just follow easy steps provided by official MIUI website.I unlocked my MI5. So please gather some information before posting.

In august .. i have my first xiaomi phone ... mi max 128 gb ...
first use this phone has many bugs and its use miui 7510 global stable ...the big problem is the phone not have 4G in the network setting ... so i try to flash the new room ... all stuck because of the lock bootloader
The only way to update are with the updater ... but the updater not working too ... other options are required the unlock ....so i request unlock to xiaomi website but never receive the code to unlock ... and finally i sold my phone
I really want xiaomi developer to think about this
1.do you think all of your users are an expert to do the flash things?
2.with your locked ....all just going very very complicated ...yesterday i try to flash my wife old phone redmi note 4G ... its done just in 82 second .... i try n failed with mi max in 46 hours n make me very frustated
3.do you think with locked .... an expert can't flash their stock rom? In indonesian .... your official rom just replace with the sellers version rom ....
4.xiaomi dont have the official selling center like samsung to protect their original software .... so try like samsung will be your big failure
thanks for the stupid experience using mi phone
                sorry for my bad english

if you need to unlock your boot loader then there is a official link for it which xiaomi has provided in there site. If there intention is to lock the boot loader then they shouldn't have provided the link. so don't blame them..

                  here is the link: http://en.miui.com/unlock/

                      useless device with complicating stuffs.

Unlocking bootloader official way - takes over a month. First 2-3 weeks gone on getting approval, when I tried after the approval it doesn't recognize support says wait for another 15 days.

WTF!!! SERIOUSLY!! then I grew impatient like other guys around the world and used the unofficial way of unlocking the bootloader. It ended up in hardbrick WTF!!

Dont buy this crap better buy the budget phone from india like micromax / intex models

If you want to root or get rid of bloatware from Xiaomi phones - do NOT buy. I bought one without realising that the boot loader would be locked and am so frustrated with a bricked device. Should have just burnt the money.

AnonD-490087, 20 Jan 2016But what is the need to chnge the basic things given by com... moreIt's the customisation. For instance, the device might be O.K. when you 1st buy it but may slow down after a few years of use. So you can install a custom ROM, to clear all the bloatware or install a kernal to make things faster. Doing this makes your device have a longer shelf-life. For instance, the lastest version of Android on some versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 International is Jelly Bean. Beyond that Samsung have no released a Kit Kat ROM in some markets, but you can download a Cyanogenmod Kit Kat ROM from the official website for the device. You can also root & run apps that require root. (ROM Toolbox, Greenify) An unlocked bootlaoder is important for this.

Sometimes the default ROM & set-up is O.K. but after a while you want more from the device before you replace it.
