I agree that the iPhone's success is mostly due to media exposure and hype thanks to Apple's marketing strategy. It had already sold the iPod so well all around the world, that an Apple-based phone would easily dominate the market. However, there are far, far better phones out there but couldn't even penetrate US soil without an aggressive marketing campaign. So far, RIM and Motorola have been the more successful companies rivaling Apple's presence in the US market today.

But since the introduction of the Open Handset Alliance's brainchild, Android, things aren't going so well for the iPhone. Now the Droid, Nexus One and other phones are very much competitive enough to attract customers.

And lastly, the iPhone 2G is already hacked with Android 1.6 ported into the device. It's a fairly complicated process, but it is workable and worth it. There is already a comprehensive development going on by various developers, most of which are already released: Android rooting, SD card emulation, porting Sense UI and Nexus One UI, and many more. It's only a matter of time until all iPhone devices could be ported with the Android OS.

The biggest share for the iphone is in the US. And since most American citizens are victims of the media no wonder why they fell for this shi*ty Iphone. While BB's are famous and popular worldwide. And just for the record Iphone will go down the hills now since new Andriod handsets are available now in the US as a very good alternative. And the HD2 + X10 + Evo + Nexus one are just the beginning. This is apple's worst nightmare!!

So happy ipods and bye bye iphone hehe. Just wait and see and this is exactly what will happen, so sorry iphone die hardfans but your phones just suk as your brains hehe, get over it :)

David, 03 May 2010Or you can just read the original news for this thread, Nok... moreNokia aren't doing very well in the US.

They are the cheap phone kings, their N97 flagship failed against newer, better phones, all they have is vapourware which has already been panned.

The iPhone won't compete against the N95 = fail, the N96 will take on the iPhone = fail, the N97 will take on the iPhone = fail, the N8 will take on the iPhone = ???

They have to give away the things that are supposed to make them money.

Millions of cheap iPhone wannabes may make them number one in volume of sales BUT the return on shareholder investments is pitiful and getting worse.

I think Nokia should stay out of the US market, just like Samsung, SE and LG. That crap is just US anti non american manufacturer propaganda by US based media as usual.

Obviously Nokias profit in first quarter is not good cause they haven't released their flagship yet which creates alot of hype and generates sales even on other models.

It's the same lame story every year with with these "profit warning" articles in 1st Q for Nokia just before they release i line of high end phones, then when Q3 and Q3 profits come around they smack all manufacturers in the ass with record sales, over and over again, year after year.

I have been reading articles like these about Nokia since Samsung cam onto the scene, so it's nothing new, it looks like this for Nokia every first 5-6 months of the year cause they release their big guns later.

All we've had from Nokia management are excuses as their profits have slid and they have lost most of their high end sales.

Nokia investors have had enough as Nokia goes backwards.

Anonymous, 02 May 2010Poor nokia fanboy... symbian has only about 800 application... moreYou are only allowed to express your opinion on this thread when Apple makes top 10.

Wow, so much nonsense in so few words. Symbian only 800 apps? Dude, Symbian has over 280 000 apps. Or do you mean that there are 800 phones out that has Symbian Platform?

Symbian sells 10 times more Phones than Apple platform, so it doesn't make sence that no developers are interested in developing for Symbian.

I personally know 9 people at work that developes for Symbian, now they are exploring apps for new Symbian^3 and ^4, so what you say meks no sense.

I know you are a iApple cause i recognize your signature.

Anyway, as i said before, you are only allowed to express your opinion on this thread when Apple makes top 10, so play att Panasonic, Sharp and HP mobile forum.

well well its the result of q1 sales and mobile shipments, and still on the top spot is nokia and it means more people are still using symbian whatever other says this os is the most dominant in mobile competition, and nokia still the top selling mobile phone.
