my note 4 would last between 7-8 hours of video playback with all radio functions switched off. If the S7 manages too do better then it could exceed that number by 3 hours the most because of it's smaller displayx and efficient processor.

You have seen the S5 kinda fail in waterproofing if the back case not properly in place and the port not properly closed. They following Sony footstep.

So may be other phones that will compete overall, ergo the S7 would be among the best in it's class.

Well it's not that impossible. The S6 Active achieved 18 hours (albeit at lower screen brightness) of video playback. Hope to see crazy good battery life in the S7.

The S7 will ship with a non-removable 3000mAh battery. There is no way it will pull 17 hours of video playback at 100% brightness. It might be possible at 200 nits.
