Lex79, 02 Feb 2016It's subject aggressive throttling though, so much so that ... moreWhich is actually a great achievement of 6P!

In most SD810 phones, actual (sustained) performance is lower than Snapdragon 800!
          Note 3 from 2013 is faster than 2015 phones using SD810! *That's* how bad SD810 was/is!

Kudos to Huawei and Google for curtailing the losses in Nexus 6P...

AnonD-79180, 02 Feb 2016Ah , the overheating issue once again rears its ugly head !... moreIT's not "just 1.8GHz". It's core is HUGE, it's equivalent to 3.6Ghz or other manufacturers' architechtures.

So it's actually impressive that their processor is cool at 3.6GHz *actual* GHz!

AnonD-79180, 02 Feb 2016Ah , the overheating issue once again rears its ugly head !... moreYeah. Like Krait cores back then in SD 600 & 800. Lower clock (hence, lower power consumption) than Cortex counterpart, yet somewhat provide similar processing power. 810 suffer the heating issue because Qualcomm use Cortex to join 64 bit parade while working on Kryo. Now that 820 will officially delivered to consumer, we'll see whether it can live up to our expectations or not.

Well, the s... moreIt's subject aggressive throttling though, so much so that in the recent Anandtech review of the Nexus 6P, they went as far as to say that the sustainable performance of the 6P using the 810 is actually lower than that of the Nexus 6 using the 805.

Don't worry, even if it doesn't overheat and turns out to be the world's best designed SoC, Mediatek will make sure to NOT support it. They'll do the bare minimum to make it work and lock it under some obscure agreement despite all the clear violations of the GPL license.

That's what you get for buying cheap crap.

so what? many many people will still happily buy it, because it's cheaper than snapdragon and exynos.

Ah , the overheating issue once again rears its ugly head ! Manufacturers need to find ways to optimize core architecture instead of clocking their processors too high !
Just look how powerful, stable and cool Apple A9 is at just 1.8Ghz !
