Android 2.2 Froyo is finally unveiled, 2-5x faster than Eclair

20 May, 2010
Just as expected Google announced the latest version of the Android OS at their I/O event. Android 2.2 Froyo has hardly been the industry best-kept secret so you probably already had an idea of what was coming...

          I have a Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S series) bought at AT&T in USA.
          I unlocked it and use it with another dealer, instead of AT&T.
          Does anybody know if I will be able to update to Froyo ?

          Thanks

              i am intrested in getting the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S
              but from what ive read a 2.2 version is coming soon...
              Is that a good reason 2 wait for Samsung to release another phone that
              has already a 2.2 version or does the Galaxy S is capable of upgrading
              itself like my current Nokia cel?
              pls inform me.

                    @Radu
                    Camera recording capabilities are based on the phone itself, not the android OS it runs on. There are several Android devices running 2.1 that can record in 720p.

                      If this update doesn't bring 720p video recording on Nexus, I doubt they will bring it to Desire. So all hopes for nothing.

                          Does anyone know if the Bluetooth voice dialing require a data connection? Currently in 2.1 voice search and voice texting are great, unless you don’t have a network connection.
