Android 2.2 Froyo is finally unveiled, 2-5x faster than Eclair

20 May, 2010
Just as expected Google announced the latest version of the Android OS at their I/O event. Android 2.2 Froyo has hardly been the industry best-kept secret so you probably already had an idea of what was coming...

I've tried nexus one and HD2,like i said iPhone users with 3D multitouch capabilities app.installed in their iPhone know what i mean.

One thing i have to make clear though,it's not just the software (2.1 and below),it's more like the hardware cause HTC used The nexus one uses a Synaptics ClearPad 2000 :

This is why i hate HTC,and i'm truly surprised none of GSMArena readers knows any of this information..!!!

Here is an article i read yesterday"Research company Gartner has
                  published a breakdown of the
smartphone world for Q1 2010, and
                  the results are looking incredibly
positive for Nokia. With over a
                  quarter of a million Symbian
handsets sold every DAY, rivals are
going to have to work hard if they
want to catch Nokia. To find out more,
join us after the break …
                  Gartner’s research of the smartphone
world shows lots of figures for Q1
2010, but the most important ones
are the fact that Symbian devices sit
at the top of the pile, with over
                  260,000 Symbian handsets sold every
single day, and making up just under
                  half the smartphone market.
                  Granted, there are other
                  manufacturers that make Symbian
handsets in small numbers - such as
Sony Ericsson - but the vast majority
of Symbian phones currently on sale
are made by Nokia. With devices such
as the Nokia 5800 - which has sold
over 8 million units on its own, it’s
easy to understand how the figures
                  have become so large.
                  In comparison, RIM (Research In
Motion) sits in second place, with a
market share of under 20 per cent,
with Apple ’s iPhone OS taking third,
with around 15 per cent of the
market. Even with Android - which
makes up under 10 per cent - the
other three players struggle to match
Symbian in terms of units sold,
                  highlighting just how dominant
Nokia is in the global smartphone
                  market.
So, despite what you may have heard
                  about the dominance of other
                  smartphone platforms, it looks like
Nokia and Symbian are here to stay."

I'm using 3Gs,and i'm stick with it due to my contract, then again nexus one couldn't execute real multitouch, rather should called it dual touch cause even if you could do action with two fingers like pinch zooming but that's it,you can't use four to five fingers simultaneously like the iPhone,iPhone users with MoodPad,kanon drum, street fighter 4 or many other 3D games would understand what i mean, but really that live wallpaper and Android UI looks pretty cool, way different than iPhone but it's great if not better.

Symbian is dead, even the n8 won't be able to stop droid or iPhone in the market,it will fail like n97,garbage and crap inside out.

I'm still waiting for iPhone 4G,or if it didn't suit me,then welcome HTC Evo4G,to be honest i HATE HTC,yet slowly Evo4G flushed my hatred away, and know between 2.2 froyo or OS4,definitely hard to choose, but in the end i'll never ever choose a garbage phone running symbian OS.

So great to see people say 'Symbian' is the best, because it still has the 'biggest' % of the market.

But I just realized that I never have seen anybody say this:

People, do you remember how cellphone's started? THERE WAS ONLY NOKIA WITH SYMBIAN OS. IT IS NORMAL, that most people still use Nokia's/Symbian OS.

But everybody knows, Apple and Google are gaining market very fast. Android will become huge, while the iPhone will remain very strong in the Market. And Nokia/Symbian will keep losing and losing market....
