But of late, I'm pi$$ed of by their policies & customer support. I believe they have gone too far ahead to shed their image from mass phone manufacturer to became smartphone elite and to an extent gone insane to compete against Apple.
In last six months I've got myself Apple & HTC (Android 2.1), but still I have a soft cornor for Nokia though they really don't care for their customers & loyal markets. Perhaps, I can see, they taking market share for granted & I fear how badly this can hit back on Nokia Inc.

Look im no way slating this phone as I have owned so many Nokias and have sworn by Nokias for 10 years. I actually still have a weak spot for Nokia to a certain point. But lately the thing about Nokias is that they dont quite live up to their promises. The N97 and X6 are 2 examples I can give, both using Symbian platforms. Now I know this is the latest version of Symbian and I really hopes it lives up to the promise of being bigger and better than ever, but I never hold my breath when it comes to the Nokia/Symbian mix.

Yes there is a superb camera and video recording facility, the specs are really good, but this alone cant make the phone better than the rest. It needs a combination of everything, ie a good OS, excellent UI (Nokias do generally have a very good one), processor, graphics chip, support, etc... to make it right.

I really hope this phone is a success. A phone that lives up to its promise. I would love to see Nokia up there with Apple, HTC and Samsung making challenging capacitive screen smartphones. This would give the consumer more choice. However, im just a little sceptical thats all.

The N8 has the potential to be the new king of high-end multimedia smartphones. The absolute "killer"-feature is its camera system that apparently surpasses most dedicated digicams. This is something I ahve always been dreaming of: to replace my old digicam with a camera-phone that will provide equal or better pics. isn't that huge?
And on top of the killer-camera, you get everything that a smartphone actually needs: - navigation/maps (for free), office, exchange push mail, WLAN spot funcionality, FM transmitter and you can even use it as a phone.
Oh dear, I can't wait to get this baby into my hands!!!!

duff man, 24 May 2010shouldn't this have been around 100 euros cheaper? It said 370 euro without tax. Add tax into the equation (and also the greed of re-sellers) and it'll hit about 500.

Why do a lot of you keep saying Symbian is old and sluggish? Symbian^1 on touch phones is, but this is Symbian^3, so until we see some benchmarks of the FINISHED product, not beta, judging it would be stupid

josh, 24 May 2010Why the friggin hell is everone complaining about symbian??... morehey dude why are you so angry. What people are saying is true symbian needs something new. As a complete os i'm sure its the best as its been around the longest so should understand the best what users need but when it comes to looks and the feel of the os its very outdated. Also the things that are lacking from the other os's are now being added and considering they look better and are more user friendly. symbian is turning into a much more bussiness style phone while the others are more user/social networking friendly. Also to niraj yea your right it doesnt have hdmi cable but thats not a huge issue for me as i got dnla via ps3, however i'll rarely use this feature, if you do then go for a phone with a hdmi cable.

one main factor that iphone has is their unique design, but this time they lose to n8 which has more sexy design than the box shape, old ipod nano design.

Usually Apple is good for design but this time it lost its sex appeal to the great Nokia N8 with aluminium casing with 5 great colors, not to mention, HDMI, dobly surround, 12 millions biggest sensor on the market camera, free in 74 countries navigation turn by turn voice guided, new OS Symbian 3. No other phone offers all of this. Nokia is back with the N8!

"Slow"? where are your speed tests of the final production unit? Android, iphoneOS, Win7 is better? Where are your hand's on comparison of the final production unit? You guys claim that you are not bashing but it's just silly saying something negative about something that is not even out yet.

Symbian already has a declining market share and developers have lost interest in developing apps for it with only 9% left! And there's the 360x640 screen, same type of processor as the outdated 5800, same old symbian user interface, and nothing new. And all these on a nearly September release date. Oh, and that new flagship store of Nokia in America just closed. Good job Nokia! Uh yeah... Nokia is soo failing. The new Windows 7 Series, iPhoneOS 4, and the new Android will come out by that time and will wipe Symbians outdated *ss.
