Nokia N8 pops up on pre-order in Amazon, coming on 24 August?

23 May, 2010

The highly anticipated Nokia N8 is already available for pre-order in Germany. You can get it for good 470 euro. Another new fact is its availability date - rumors have 24 August as expected shipping date.

The Nokia N8 was unveiled a month back and ever since it's remained in the headlines.

The smartphone will be the first device to run the new Symbian^3 OS which is as warmly welcome as the N8 itself. It also features UI framework and Qt cross-platform app support which should allow development of apps that run on both Symbian and MeeGo.

Speaking of features, we can't miss the 12-megapixel autofocus snapper with Xenon flash and 720p video recording at 25fps. If you want to find out more about the promising N8 camera and the phone itself, just follow the link to our interview with Damian Dinning, the man behind the N8 camera development.

As for the Nokia N8 availability, the phone is said to head for the stores on 24 August. So far the only release date we had was the vague "Q3, 2010".

Interestingly, Amazon.de is already taking pre-orders for N8. It takes almost 470 euro to become one of the first owners of the upcoming phone. That's some good 100 euro above the initially estimated price of 370 euro, but then again that one was announced as a "before-taxes" price tag.
