Will the modules fit the G6, or do you throw them out with the phone? 10% of the days battery life for always on display? No wonder you need a removable battery.

Modular design is an old idea that was never successful in an ever advancing computer and electroics world. And if this design interferes with the overall design then the outcome will probably not please many. However, i give LG credit for giving it a try. Most other manufacturers tried different ideas that proved unsuccessful, including samsung, htc, amazon, and others.

i like the idea of having a modular handset but i don't think it's ready yet, so i think i'll skip this one and go for a non-modular flagship. still, i hope by next year there will be many modular handsets and hundreds of supported add-ons to satisfy all tastes. i hope the time for everyone to have his unique special device will be very soon!!

It just really sad. They doing something new and great but with design like this all these innovations are going to be wasted.

This lg g5 is starting to peak my interest

AnonD-422306, 21 Feb 2016Correct me if I am wrong, but the G5 is using an LCD screen... moreThey are using a lower clocked chip for the always on display. Thus reducing the power consumption.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the G5 is using an LCD screen for the "Always On" Screen. Not the best feature for LCDs. An AMOLED screen would've suited this feature much better.

As much as i like the feature capacity of the G5 there are two questions which need to be answered:

                                    1) If I am going to change the module, for example if I want to listen to music using the speaker module, does that mean the phone has to be turned off and back on everytime you want to change a module? You are effectively removing the battery every time?

                                    2) What insurance can LG provide to consumers that this isn't some kind of market gimmick, will the modules be supported with future flag ship LG phones? Will the modules be compatible with the LG 6?

Great design n innovation by LG. But it should still maintain its 5.5" screen instead of going backward to 5.3". Might have some setback in their effort to gain some markets.
