The design is excellent in my opinion, same as the screen size.
But for $399 the 16GB would have been a great deal. Maximum speed for business-oriented customers. But at $499, I'm not very sure, especially if the LG G5 will be around $600 or so.

AnonD-352420, 23 Feb 2016why? its a good price, way cheaper than the competitionIf they priced the x performance
500$
Or even 550/600
I'll take it anyday rather than this overpriced Chinese phone
The 16gb should be 350 or 380 at max
For 16 500
You better get the Samsung
Hope its cheap

I love reading comments people are like sheep if one person says it then everyone bleets along. They is a difference between specs and features your all talking about specs. have you read anywhere about the features of this phone? Most phones have these same specs in 2016. And then people start bleeting about the price did you hear Xiaomi come right out and make a offical statement about the price?
@gsmarena there will come a day when you have to report some news not just trawl the website then come up with a title you do this more and more its like reading News of the world for tech this happens with every major phone maker and it getting boring report some actual news

They must be kidding if that's the price point they are thinking of selling this phone. Xiaomi should not forget their strength was and has been their low cost high features strategy. Moreover why would anyone pay so much for a company which doesn't even have a decent service network for their phones forget about brand equity. They are doomed if they are launching it at a price point higher than INR 20K

Jessy, 23 Feb 2016In fact, they offer way more. Samsung offers refined design... moreFirst, the spec is wrong. It\s been confirmed to use 1080p ONLY.
Second, I believe some online sellers like Gearbest, or Xiaomidevice quote a high price on Mi5 because they basically do not know the real selling price because Xiaomi has not released the info yet until the launch time. To be safe, they simply quote a high number which they basically know will be more than its real value. Once Xiaomi announce the price, they can simply adjust their selling price by a discount. That's more preferable for sellers than jacking the price upwards for adjustment (politically incorrect business-wise).
I believe the price will start at $350 for basic configuration to $450 for the real premium flagship.

A few thing that annnoys me about Xiaomi is the poor software optimization, average battery life, subpar cameras and lastly tinny speakers. Before you start arguing with me remember this: Although Xiaomi packs great features at an attractive price. These quirks will drive away potential customers. If they want to compete with Samsung and Apple they must provide a compelling smartphone that makes people second-guess their decision to buy an expensive flagship device from well-known brands. My age is 16.

Gibby, 23 Feb 2016It's true - it may have high end specs but no killer featur... more5.2 Inch screen is the optimal size for me and since the honor 7 i wouldnt want anything bigger.
Smaller (down to 4.8) is okay but not as good as 5.1, 5.2 inches.

Perhaps it's a ploy by Xiaomi so that people get dissapointed and or annoyed and when the actual release happens; huzzah! everyone is overjoyed that the initial "prices" were so off the mark. Not too different from e-tailers claiming 8-10 business days for delivery, only to go ahead and deliver it in 3-4; "performing beyond expectations".
